I finally finished the humpback whale I made for an art trade! Took me forever, but so happy with it now that it’s done. Final measurements are 23" from nose to tail, 19" from fin to fin, and 6" across at the widest part of the body. It even has the little bumps on it’s face like a real humpback. Merino wool.

THIS IS SO CUTE EVEN THOUGh IT’S A WHALE

I had dreams about swimming with orcas last night. And dolphins, but mostly lots and lots of orcas. It was terrifying, though I seemed perfectly content to play with them in dream world.

At least they weren’t blue whales. Orcas demand a healthy fear, and these ones mostly wanted to be petted…

Okay, so for the last week I have been in the fairytale land known as  Washington state for my older brother’s WEDDING. Aaron, my mom, and my little bro and I all traveled together, which was great ‘cause we haven’t done a family trip since 2004.

We flew from Utah to Portland, Oregon, then drove up to Vancouver, WA, then to Seattle the next day, then took a ferry to FRIDAY HARBOR on San Juan island and there we had the wedding, which was beautiful. Jeff (now-married brother) seems so, so, so happy, which makes ME so, so, SO happy.  <3

The food was amazing everywhere we went. It rained a lot, which was BEAUTIFUL. My skin was so happy to not be in an arid desert, and I enjoyed being outside because the overcast made it so I wasn’t burning to death. My mom kind of wonders if my family is mildly allergic to the sun ’cause none of us like being outside because BURNING. Washington, though, we didn’t have that problem. I didn’t have to use lotion, either, and everyone’s allergies seemed to clear up. Weird.

Basically, we’re all in love with Washington and my desire to move there has increased 100x.

Other fun things:

  • There are super mountains over there
  • Salmon in Washington is SO GOOD
  • Conveyor belt sushi is still A+++++
  • Friday Harbor is a bit like Disneyland but without any rides beside the ferry
  • It’s also obsessed with whales
  • We went to the whale museum and the guy there was VERY ENTHUSIASTIC and tricked me into adopting a whale
  • So I adopted an orca named Lobo, who had the least sponsors at all
  • …oddly enough, I do feel better about orcas, now, but they were never the real big bad, anyway
  • We also went to the Daiso store in Lynnewood and it was really weird. They had lots of great Japanese stuff, though, and fun was had by all. Mom got her dancing solar-powered flowers, little bro got his adorable bento boxes, and I got a couple of fancy brush pens – all for very cheap! Aaron got nothing, but enjoyed looking around.
  • We ate a ton of food holy moly
  • There was no end to our walking around for hours
  • We stayed in 4 different hotels over 5 nights, which was crazy, but fun
  • I adore my family
  • I can’t believe I adopted a whale
  • I have a certificate and everything
  • We’re looking at apartment and job listings in Washington now …
  • also doing laundry

I guess that’s it, though.

It was basically amazing, but now I’m even more broke and have to go back to work tomorrow. T___T;
