Sketches I did on my lunch break…

  1. Anthony, a character originally from a middle grade novel I started called ‘Saving Throw’ now the love interest in a YA romance I’m dying to write called ‘The Champions of Summer.’ He’s a super nerd no matter what.
  2. Anthony and Bunny from the summer fluff story.
  3. GENE FROM SUPER 4. AAHHH <3 GENE
  4. Concept sketches of Serena Hartwell from yet a different novel that I’d love to write – an adult werewolf romcom (though it may be classified as New Adult, really).

Please enjoy my Sonic struggle. I keep wanting to draw him like mickey mouse mixed with the new ninja turtle cartoon style…

The SKETCHBOOK of DOOM

image

This is the sketchbook that I took to the con. During opening ceremony, I mentioned the project and told the fuzzies that I was going to fill it over the weekend and that they needed to give me species suggestions. They did. I started it on Friday night, it was auctioned it off on Sunday (at 70% finished), and was wrapped up on Monday. It sold for £250, half of which went to the charity.

The winning bidder helped me decide the final species and I drew his character on the first page. He seemed very happy, which made ME very happy, and all things were wonderful!

Click through to see the drawings! None of these are scanned, so photos are all you guys are gonna get. 🙂

These were really fun for me to do since I almost never do traditional media outside of conventions, and thus only do badges/sketchbooks on commission. I alternated between plain graphite and graphite/prismacolor marker and got to experiment with a lot of different styles and things. Sometimes I was able to get a reference for an animal, but most of the time I sort of just made up (so ignore the janky anatomy plz).

AND HERE IS THE HAPPY WINNER, WHOM I ADORE:

Look,Taro even has a signed print that he bought at the con yard sale!!!

Anyway, it was a lot of work and totally worth it. :3

…okay so you know how I found that pile of sketches? I’m really happy about it because it had a lot of fun stuff in it.

…but the sketches that I was looking for aren’t with them.
