Story Snippet: The Call of the Raven

“Of course.”

Hakuba was pleased to be trusted with as much information as he’d been given already, and while he was curious, he felt assured that he would know all of the details – in time. He wanted to gain Shinichi’s favor, and that sort of thing only came with time. Especially with such an experienced detective. Anything other than positive encounters built over time would be suspicious, if not outright cast out. No; Hakuba wanted to be more than a passing acquaintance and colleague. So he would be patient, and wait.

The blonde detective wet his lips, then looked back to his book, dismissing Shinichi from further obligations of polite conversation. “Your trust is not misplaced, Kudo-san. Take care; I look forward to seeing you again soon.”

Tomorrow I should probably pack.
