Detective Conan Drawing Challenge Day 15:
Genderbend a character or two
“It’s like I’ve gotten a cute little sister! Say, Christie-chan, do you ‘like’ anyone at your school?”
Christie could hear the emphasis on the word ‘like’.
“No, not really.” The bespectacled girl paused before turning to look at the high school student. “Ren-niichan, do you?”
Ren Mouri grinned. “Yup!”
Huh. So her best friend could keep some secrets from her after all. Mayumi Kudo, turned into six-year-old Christie Doyle, searched her brain trying to figure out who her childhood friend had a crush on but to no avail. A thought then crossed her mind.
“It wouldn’t happen to be that Mayumi girl you were looking for, is it?”
Ren bent down to ruffle the little girl’s hair. “Yup!”
‘Oh, —-wait. What?’ Christie brushed her hair back into place with a hand as the realization of the statement hit her.
Ren, Mayumi’s best friend that she had had a crush on since grade school, was admitting he had a crush on her. Well, not the current her, but the real her.
“Ah, Christie-chan. You’re blushing! Silly.”

Shin’ichi Kudo -> Mayumi Kudo
- Searched for a female name that has something to do with “truth” and ended up with Mayumi. 🙂
Conan Edogawa -> Christie Doyle
- Well, I needed a female merge together of two mystery writer names. ^^; This time we’re using Agatha Christie and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Ran Mouri -> Ren Mouri
- “Ren” can be written using a kanji that means “lotus”, to keep with the idea of Ran’s name being a flower. (Ran meaning “orchid”.)
Kaito Kuroba -> Manami Kuroba
- Kaito’s name contains a kanji that can be read as “ocean”, so I grabbed a female name containing “ocean” as well.
