cloverkite came over last weekend, so I sketched while lazing about on the couch. Some Conan, a bunch of Sonic, loooots of my bitty baby Xander in Fennec form, and a terrible attempt at Salmon and Theo.

oh, and cats. because there are always cats.

Moving day is exactly 1 month from now. The theory is that things will calm down then… but I feel like I’ve said that before…

Xander as a fennec fox in the appropriate colors (he’s really a shiny Espeon, you know), drawn in slightly Sonic-esque style.

graveyardlilies replied to your photo: “I keep drawing while on ambien. It’s so much easier to draw that way….”:

Well, the ambien is meant to help you sleep, yeah? So maybe it calms your mind enough to let you think more creatively?

Could very well be… I start getting sleepy and forget to be anxious about it… I drew this as an experiment tonight after taking it, and everything felt fairly effortless, even doing the crazy coloring in autodesk with the copic markers. Hah, I should just start working on commissions every night after taking it… maybe I’d make some major progress.

I keep drawing while on ambien. It’s so much easier to draw that way. This took 20 mins from start to finish.

…what does that even say about me?

More art that I did last weekend at Sabakon – heading home in the morning! I’m learning a lot about markers! Honestly, I’m amazed that these still work… they’re the same prismacolors that I got in high school over ten years ago. I’m really enjoying this medium.

The little white dog girl and the fox boy were commissions, and someone bought the umbreon sketch before I had a chance to color it – haha. 🙂

The SKETCHBOOK of DOOM

image

This is the sketchbook that I took to the con. During opening ceremony, I mentioned the project and told the fuzzies that I was going to fill it over the weekend and that they needed to give me species suggestions. They did. I started it on Friday night, it was auctioned it off on Sunday (at 70% finished), and was wrapped up on Monday. It sold for £250, half of which went to the charity.

The winning bidder helped me decide the final species and I drew his character on the first page. He seemed very happy, which made ME very happy, and all things were wonderful!

Click through to see the drawings! None of these are scanned, so photos are all you guys are gonna get. 🙂

These were really fun for me to do since I almost never do traditional media outside of conventions, and thus only do badges/sketchbooks on commission. I alternated between plain graphite and graphite/prismacolor marker and got to experiment with a lot of different styles and things. Sometimes I was able to get a reference for an animal, but most of the time I sort of just made up (so ignore the janky anatomy plz).

AND HERE IS THE HAPPY WINNER, WHOM I ADORE:

Look,Taro even has a signed print that he bought at the con yard sale!!!

Anyway, it was a lot of work and totally worth it. :3

Badges I did during the con today. :3 I think the angry gabkitty is my new favorite thing… I am gonna use that as my icon… EVERYWHERE.
