was working on this thing, but it’s been put away for now (as the above description states) – I think when I come back to it that I’ll re-draw it on top, ink, etc… and repaint using these colors. There’s just so much that I am not satisfied with in the face… blonde prince of egypt character instead of anime I tell you what.

Uhhh so… this is… “Kaitou Kage” … and… it’s a thing in the epic Conan fan fiction that we haven’t even gotten to yet. But are about to. We have (almost) all of it outlined. Seriously. 

…That whole thing about helping Toichi instead of fighting him and whatever? Yeah… .. yeah..

I will do a better drawing of this next time ;o;

Someone mentioned on their tumblr that they were tired of seeing fanart from artists they like of stuff that they don’t like, and I doubt it was even about me but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since I saw it last night.  So I’mma try a thing.

I guess this way I can write commentary. This was a teeny-tiny sketch, done to make CloverKite squeal. It worked, so I drew more.

I had no reference to work from, but uhhh hopefully that’s okay. Here I depict some headcanon. The angsty backstory I wrote for Hakuba in the EPIC CONAN FANFIC gives him pale scars on his lower back. I ought to do some research about scars, though.

Oh, yeah, I also gave him cigarettes, which he occasionally uses to de-stress. More headcanon, but it’s been fun to give him some conflicts and traits that he needs to work through besides the obvious… CK isn’t a fan of that part for personal reasons, so I drew him shirtless, smoking AND smiling for once…  Carpet says I was being cruel. 🙂

…Ahem anyway! SO… .. what did you think of this system? Does it work for you? Is the commentary option appealing? I know that the images just displayed aren’t as nice as a photo set, but if I can potentially make my followers happier then it is worth it. 🙂

CONAN SUNDAY UPDATE #2 (of three).

Remember how I was talking about Conan dying his hair, getting a haircut, tattoo, etc and changing his name to go under cover while under cover? Here are the drawings from that thought experiment. He goes by the name of ‘Koji’, which has no relation to anything else. 

The full story- 

A few weeks back, CloverKite and I found some awesome Korean (I think) fanart of Conan having been captured by some mysterious figures and being held under observation behind glass… It was a series of images. Kaitou KID watched from the roof or vents or something. I’ll have to find it and link it… I think it was on pixiv.

Anyway, being us, we made up a story to go along with it, and started writing even though we should have been working on EPIC CONAN FANFIC of DOOM. Conan disappears on the way home from school one day, captured by the  Black Organization who’s figured out who he is etc. etc. etc torture maim and so on. Kaitou finds out where he is and saves him.

Since Shinichi’s been found out, though, he can’t go back to who he was. He can’t go back to any of his former life or he worries that everyone will be in danger. So Ran, Heiji, Agasa, and so on all believe that Conan’s dead.

Kaito takes him in as his adopted foster brother, going by the name of Koji Watanabe, or now, Koji Kuroba. 

And stuff goes relatively well for a while once ‘Koji’ gradually recovers from the trauma… until he runs into Heiji on the street, who immediately recognizes him. Oops.

Shinichi’s parents get involved. Drama ensues. But hey, Kaito gets him a puppy, which he names Gomera. 8)

…and thus ends another episode of Gabapple and Cloverkite need to stop.

ps. Chianti is the one who gave him the tattoo, as a form of torture. I don’t think they expected him to live much longer.

Oh hey look, it’s the premise of the Epic Conan Fanfic in a nutshell! Yes, friends, this is what Call of the Raven is all about.

I’m particularly fond of the pencil rendering in this. Cardstock and .5 mechanical pencils are my allies.

I scanned a million Conan sketches today, no lie. So updates will be better and more consistent. Also, I’mma post a fanfic snippet on my other account tonight, so watch for that… it’s about Hakuba!

we must have been tired

so

over the weekend, cloverkite and I came up with like… 15 new non-serial ideas for our AU conan canon (we were working the con circuit, you know, and can only take so many ponies before we get ponied out) and..

and then

we dyed Conan’s hair and cut it and gave him a new name so he could go.. under cover.. under.. cover.

and it didn’t even occur to me until today that this is kind of weird.

…and yet I can’t stop drawing him. :I
