Doctors Are Now Saying That Menstrual Cramps Can Be as Painful as Having a Heart Attack
And in other news, water is wet
Not like women have been telling y’all this since the beginning of time or anything.
I mean, yeah, at one point three years ago I was curled up in a fetal position literally screaming/crying/gasping for breath on my bed in my dorm room, so my response to this headline is basically, “No shit.”
No wonder women are so likely to ignore heart disease/attack symptoms. If something isn’t as bad as my cramps, I figure it can’t be that bad.
THAT LAST COMMENT
I’m laughing omg.
I remember being in high school and I’d always know that on the 2nd day of my period at around 9am I’d be white as a sheet, fingers clamped around the edge of my desk in class, unable to do anything but try to breathe because the pain would be so bad. Drenched in cold sweat. Just waiting until I couldn’t take it any longer and there was a natural break in the lesson so I could ask the teacher if I could go call my mom and/or dad.
And they would come get me without question because my mom’s were just as bad when she was my age and all that could be done was taking enough painkillers to knock you out, curl up in bed, and wait for it to pass. Hopefully while you slept for several hours, but usually not. And often while you bled through several pads and your underwear and a towel. Awesome.
This would happen every single month until I started getting ruptured cysts and I got on birth control (thank god), ‘cause the cysts had me throwing up and curled up on the floor in pain mid-cycle… but yeah.
“Just deal with it,” the boys say.
and I look at them with the tired, dead eyes of someone who just can’t give a fuck anymore.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
