My brothers dogs, Dave and Dixie. Sometimes I gotta babysit them and their opposite needs can be hard to grant as one always wants pets and the other  constant play.

What they don’t mention about #growingupwithstrictparents:

– The resentment that begins to build up and damage your relationship with your parents because your missing out on being a kid.

– The self destructive tendencies that develop when you get your freedom.

– Extreme Behaviour that can be dangerous because you feel as if you have to catch up on all the life you have been missing.

– A constant sadness that your never going to live life enough.

– Developing anxiety over doing things as simple as riding the bus.

– Massive issues with authority.

– Fear of commitment because you feel as though it is going to tie you down and take away from your freedom again.

etc…

And not a lie was spoken

SOMEONE FINALLY EXPLAINED IT

SOMEONE FINALLY EXPLAINED IT IN A SIMPLE WAY

WHA
WHHAAAT

Also you learn how to lie way too easily
You don’t trust people or public spaces because anyone could be a predator
You can’t talk to your parents about anything because they take honest topics and turn it into a discussion about what you shouldn’t be doing with your life
You can’t do basic tasks or take initiative because you’re so used to someone telling you how and where to do everything that any and everything fills you with anxiety and stress

Is it a thing with ADHD where, you want to do a bunch of things but you just can’t? Like I’ll want to sit and draw or talk to my friends but I’ll end up pacing around the house or going on tumblr. Even when there’s nothing important to do.

This is executive dysfunction: You want to do the thing, but you can’t do it. Sometimes you can’t make a choice because you’re overwhelmed by the options; sometimes you just can’t get yourself to start.

-J

Further to J’s but about executive dysfunction, this might actually also be analysis paralysis. It’s something I struggle with a lot – “I can’t make a decision because there are too different many options to weigh up and compare, so I’ll just avoid it and procrastinate instead.”

– Prue

All of this is me just about all of the time.

Oh wow.

 This is very me.

I was looking through my archive of photos, and found this one that I’d taken of Domino (rat) and Jaci (mouse) many years ago to illustrate the difference between them.

Please note: the ONLY reason I felt it safe enough to take this photo was that I had given Domino (a very sweet rat to begin with) a yogurt drop immediately before, so her mouth was occupied while I held my little mouse, snapped the photo, and separated them right after.

Rats and mice are not friends. Rats are omnivorous; they will eat mice if they feel like it.

But they’re both great pets!
