Well, Shin’ichi certainly believes that to be the case but technically no.

Shin’ichi’s reasoning for not telling Ran is because he’s worried that the Organization would target her (and well, everyone else too) if they knew the truth, but this doesn’t exactly make sense.

From the way Haibara describes the Organization, it doesn’t sound like it’d matter how “in the loop” people connected with Shin’ichi are to what’s going on. I’d think the Organization would attack people closest to Shin’ichi regardless, and it’s pretty damn obvious with a background check who Shin’ichi’s relatives and closest friends are, and we know how thorough the Organization is.

I’d say they’re pretty screwed regardless if they knew the truth or not. Hell, knowing the truth might actually help because they could stay on alert, but Shin’ichi has this crazy notion that he can protect everybody.

I saw a post the other day floating around with this pointed out, and they’re right. If Aoyama was better at characterization Shin’ichi’s would be a fascinating character to follow. The guy is losing his mind from being on constant vigilance. He freaks out from hearing someone dial a cell phone, he avoids getting pictures taken, etc. etc. But we only see these things every once in awhile.

Right now, we gotta put up with Shin’ichi in “I can totally protect everyone mode despite the fact there’s an Organization member working within the Detective Agency” mode.

tldr; Not really. I’m waiting to see Conan’s reactions when the Organization ultimately DOES do something to the people closest to him, including those who don’t have a clue what the hell is going on.

For the sake of Ran’s mental health I think he has to tell her at this point, he’s doing more harm to her now than he would if he just told her at this point. They’ll find out everything about him anyway, and if Aoyama is Aoyama they’re going to just find out on their own either way or through a fluke.

This is what I focus on when I write Conan in anything… exploring the consequences, both concrete and mental/emotional is so important. I enjoy writing him lose his mind… eh he he.

I hope Gosho actually… lets things resolve… and matter… soon.

Only time will tell, I guess. But please. :I ;;;
