I will never let myself scroll past a picture of Walt and not reblog it. I feel like I’d be dishonoring him, and he’s just done so much for me that it’s just not right.
Mr. Disney
Bless this man for enriching my childhood.

Oh right, so because someone may have held a common prejudice for the time period – which I am in no way condoning – means that all of the good that he did is negated entirely?
… That’s really stupid.
You do realize that no one is perfect, right? ‘Cause if we’re gonna go there, then no one is a hero. Or awesome. There’s good and bad to every person. That’s human. And you’ve got to take into consideration the knowledge available/accessible at the time, the societal norm/expectations/etc. Racism, I agree, is a terrible thing… but how many Americans back in the 60s (and before, and today) weren’t racist? Heck, many people can’t even support the idea that he was actually racist because while he made some racist comments here and there, those were common and not considered a problem until muuuch later… and he hired and associated with people of all ethnicity/backgrounds/etc.
Walt still did a LOT of good for the world. He’s one of my role models and heroes… not because he was perfect or infallible but because he was human and determined to try to be a good person, to prove that you can make your own dreams come true. I don’t think it’s fair or right to dismiss his achievements and charity because of his shortcomings.
Or are you going to tell me that Washington a crappy and worthless person because he owned slaves?
