Startled, he turned to the thief again, eyes wide and uncharacteristically honest. Vulnerable. He didn&rsquo;t dare smile because he didn&rsquo;t understand. What had he meant by that?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The end result was a red-faced anxious detective, stunned to silence with confusion, concern, hope, despair, and fear written all over him at once. It was not a side that he showed to anyone, really.
