Ahaha\u2026<\/p>\n

Well, wasn\u2019t this just the predicament he quite suddenly found himself in. A rather embarrassing one at that too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was in the nick of time that he\u2019d managed to slip through the closest door and silently push it closed, leaving a gap only an inch wide – any larger and it would probably be a little too noticeable – in order to watch the detective and, hopefully, find the perfect moment to leave without him noticing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Though he was almost certain that Hakuba already knew he was behind everything, it still wasn\u2019t quite like this that he\u2019d planned to reveal himself.<\/p>\n

Wonderful.<\/p>\n

Kaitou\u2019s eyes followed the detective carefully, and as far as the door in front of him allowed. It was interesting, watching Hakuba go about his business and habits without knowing anyone was there to see – though it was hardly the first time Kaitou had done it, it\u00a0was<\/em> his first time doing it while still in the detective\u2019s\u00a0room.<\/em> Or, more specifically, his closet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Details.<\/p>\n

As the blonde turned and wandered closer to where he was hiding, however, the thief tensed and moved to back away and behind the door – only to pause when he saw him finally notice the roses he\u2019d left behind. Eyes brightening just the slightest hint and lips unconsciously quirking into a smile, he let out a silent breath. It seemed Hakuba did enjoy his little gifts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Perhaps he should make a habit of this. If it made the detective happy\u2014<\/p>\n

Kaitou\u2019s thoughts were put on hold and his stance shifted and tensed as Hakuba stepped away.<\/p>\n

And over to the window.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He resisted the urge to groan and instead rubbed the bridge of his nose while swiftly going through what other exits there were. Which would be the bedroom door. And, considering the closet was in full view from the window, it would be more than difficult to try to sneak out without the other teen noticing. And if what he\u2019d gathered about Hakuba\u2019s nightly habits was anything to go by, then he\u2019d be stuck where he was until morning or until the detective went to get a change of clothes. Whichever came first. And neither sounded all that appealing. Which left\u2026<\/p>\n

“One of these nights\u2014”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The sound of Hakuba\u2019s voice made him snap his head up, gaze instantly darting through the crack of the closet door and over to the seated blonde.<\/span><\/p>\n

“\u2014<\/span>I\u2019ll actually finish your riddle. It\u2019s not so easy for me to write, you know; I\u2019m not so much a writer as I am a reader\u2026 but I\u00a0<\/span>am\u00a0<\/span>working on it.\u00a0<\/span>Of course, with every rose and gift I have to up the ante and\u2026 well, this is going to end up a novel at this point. Or at the very least, a sonnet.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

A grin pulled at his lips and he let out a silent chuckle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Well. He supposed this was as good of a time as any other. And much less embarrassing than his other options.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking a breath, Kaitou rolled his shoulders back, shoved his left hand into his pocket – and silently pushed the door open and stepped out into the room.<\/span><\/p>\n

"I wouldn\u2019t mind a sonnet or a novel,” he began smoothly, head cocking to the side with a wide, playful grin. “But I\u2019d be quite happy with a simple poem or a one sentence story too. I\u2019m not particularly picky, tantei-san~”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

The detective had just shifted into a deep, wistful sigh when the voice reached him.<\/p>\n

“ACK!”<\/p>\n

Hakuba, startled, nearly fell through the open window but scrambled, catching himself – one hand on the window pane, the other on the bench seat, and he clung motionless for a full four seconds – eyes wide, jaw tightened. But, as his mind caught up with the scene in front of him, he released the breath he’d been holding and relaxed, immediately flushing scarlet.<\/p>\n

“God… Kaitou-san,” Hakuba said, breathless. Shaking his head, he pulled himself from the window sit at the edge of the bench, feet firmly planted on plush carpeted floor. “I didn’t realize that you were still here.” \u00a0Clearly.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sheepish admission was coupled by an awkward rub at the side of his neck, gaze averted, wincing smile lopsided. \u00a0He laughed, mostly at himself, then looked back at Kid with a shy bite of his lip.<\/p>\n

“Ah, you… come here often?”<\/p>\n
