We hope you enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 part one<em>; <\/em><\/strong><em>cosmetics<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Equus Caballus, or horse, is a four legged mammal. They come in a wide variety of breeds and colors, but we\u2019ll stick to the basics\u00a0for now.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hawaiihorserescue.com\/images\/horse_parts.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A horse\u2019s height is measured in units called \u201chands.\u201d One hand is equivalent to four inches. \u00a0Accurate measurements are taken from the ground to the top of the horse\u2019s withers, where the neck connects to the horse\u2019s back.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.communigate.co.uk\/ne\/equestrianworld\/phpyJp4Js\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 colors<\/em>;<\/p>\n<p>Horses come in a rainbow of colors, but the most common coat colors are Bays, Chestnuts, and Greys.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>bay<\/strong> horse\u2019s body color ranges from a light reddish-brown to very dark brown with \u201cblack points\u201d. (Points refer to the mane, tail, and lower legs.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/7\/7b\/CMOberonTobleroneGallop15.8.08Small.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Variations include:<\/p>\n<p>Dark bay, characterized by very dark red or brown hair. It can be difficult to distinguish a dark bay from a\u00a0seal brown,\u00a0which is\u00a0sometimes called \u201cblack bay,\u201d \u201cmahogany bay,\u201d or \u201cbrown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.freewebs.com\/winterbeautybooks\/brown%20stallion%202.jpg\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Blood bay: characterized by bright red hair with dark black points. This color is often generalized with the term \u201cbay.\u201d<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/cache.desktopnexus.com\/thumbnails\/1415991-bigthumbnail.jpg\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A <strong>chestnut<\/strong> horse, also called a sorrel horse, has a\u00a0reddish body color with no black. Mane and tail are the same shade or lighter than the body coat.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.summerhill.co.za\/storage\/horse-chestnut\/horse-chestnut.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>A liver chestnut has a very dark brown coat. Sometimes, a liver chestnut is simply called \u201cbrown.\u201d<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whitehorseproductions.com\/images\/horsecolor\/chestnuts\/gc.jpg\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A<strong> grey <\/strong>horse has\u00a0black skin but white or mixed dark and white hairs. Gray horses can be born any color, and will lighten with age. Most will eventually gray-out to either a complete white or a \u201cfleabitten\u201d hair coat. Most \u201cwhite\u201d horses are actually gray with a fully-white hair coat. A gray horse is distinguished from a white horse by dark skin, particularly noticeable around the eyes, muzzle, flanks, and other areas of thin or no hair. Variations of gray that a horse may exhibit over its lifetime include:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.highoffleystud.co.uk\/images\/Airborne%20Montecillo.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Dapple gray: a dark-colored horse with lighter rings of graying hairs, called dapples, scattered throughout. Dapple can appear like donut-shaped rings on the horse\u2019s body.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/merseybirders.webs.com\/photos\/Mammals\/Dappled%20grey%20Horse2.JPG\" \/><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Fleabitten gray: an otherwise fully white-haired horse that develops red and\/or black hairs flecked throughout the coat.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/a\/a0\/Asil_Arabian_Mare_AC2008_0001.jpg\" \/><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Rose gray: a gray horse with a reddish or pinkish tinge to its coat. This color occurs with a horse born bay or chestnut while the young horse is \u201cgraying-out\u201d. Occasionally, a horse will stay rose gray into adulthood.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whitehorseproductions.com\/images\/horsecolor\/greys\/tb_baygoinggrey.jpg\" \/><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>There is a plethora of other coat colors and patterns.
