This was from a chat Clover (kaitomagic<\/a>) and I had a while ago… Hakuba and Heiji stranded on a island. They had to learn how to work together to get the rowboat to shore, build a fire, find food, make a shelter, etc. Now, tired and lamenting their fate, they sit around the fire and have a heart-to-heart…\u00a0<\/div>\n

Hakuba:\u00a0<\/strong>Brilliant… absolutely brilliant. Obnoxious, too, but in a very charming way. An ego the size of an elephant with a heart to match. Suave… clever… able to outwit anything that’s thrown at him…<\/div>\n

I don’t mean societal tiers… in that way, I’m far above him, but… I’m just not good enough for him, Hattori-san.
As a person, I mean… and as a professional. Who I am is in direct opposition of what he stands for.<\/p>\n

The law also represents oppression, enforcement of a single ideology, black and white with no room for mercy against justice… he has a very \/free\/ spirit…<\/div>\n

Hakuba:<\/strong>\u00a0By… being wonderful, I suppose… charming… and I’ve had the opportunity to observe him in his normal, daily life… once you know a piece of his motivations, what seems selfish turns to self-sacrifice…<\/p>\n

At least you’ve got that going for you. Most days I can’t tell if mine is my friend or if he hates me… and, ah, he’s… within an appropriate age range… you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t wish to divulge specifics…<\/div>\n

Well if he’s close ta your age an’ involved in difficult stuff, why not just be there for him? I dunno ’bout you, but if I had a lot of that complicated stuff goin’ on, it’d help ta have someone on your side who understands the law an’ can help protect him. Maybe he jus’ needs ta know he can trust ya?\u00a0

I don’t know the story, so I can’t say for sure. An… yeah. Kudo’s friendship means a lot ta me.<\/p>\n
