Short answer:<\/strong> Yes, but I\u2019m flexible. This means that it can go \u201cthe usual way\u201d where Hakuba and whoever his current partner is get to deal with a sudden, illegitimate child OR he can be Hakuba & partner\u2019s actual kid. Obviously, the latter isn\u2019t always an option, so\u2026<\/p>\n

Long answer:<\/strong> Introducing Akira into a timeline is sort of a drama bomb plot device for RP. The \u2018official\u2019 story is that he\u2019s the product of a one-night stand between our dear detective and OC Oshiro Miyu, a lawyer (Kisaki Eri\u2019s junior associate, at that) and valedictorian graduate from Keio University. It\u2019s at a fancy social event, they both get very drunk, instantly get along (mostly because Hakuba realizes normal flirting tactics don\u2019t work on her, so they talk about interesting\u00a0murder cases<\/em> instead), and end up in bed together.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What Hakuba doesn\u2019t know is that Miyu is currently engaged (she\u2019s having second thoughts about her fiance\u2014 he\u2019s not exactly the nicest guy). What Miyu doesn\u2019t know is that Hakuba\u2019s only 17, which makes her five years older than he is. Oops. They don\u2019t find out until later, either. Miyu does her research when she realizes that she\u2019s pregnant, and decides to not get Hakuba involved at all because she doesn\u2019t want to ruin his life. Besides, the baby could very well be her fiance\u2019s. So she convinces her fiance to elope and things look sunny for all. Until the baby\u2019s born, that is, and, er\u2026 is very clearly not full-blooded Japanese.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Excuses abound while Hakuba remains blissfully unaware. In some timelines, he stays in Japan and attends Keio, himself. In others, he returns to England and goes to Oxford. Either way, the husband eventually turns abusive when he does a DNA test and finds out that, nope, that kid is\u00a0not<\/em> his, and he divorces Miyu and leaves her with nothing. Ashamed, her family (all except for one sister) disowns her, too. Single mom Miyu moves in with her sister and braves the world with fierce determination and the grit that she\u2019s known for, and continues to be a badass lawyer.<\/p>\n

Usually, though, things start to catch up about when Akira turns four and she finally can\u2019t take it anymore. She\u2019s been keeping up on Hakuba\u2019s career, and has wanted to contact him many times. Finding that he\u2019s doing well for himself, she decides to show up and slap him with a lawsuit, suing him for child support and hush money to keep the scandal out of the papers (and her child in clothing + get him a college education some day).<\/p>\n

Needless to say, it\u2019s a shocking revelation, and even before getting his own lawyers involved and DNA test confirmations, he wants to help this woman that he more or less remembers. If Hakuba\u2019s dating someone at the time, it\u2019s a great opportunity for \u201comfg I\u2019m so sorry that I was such an idiot\u201d drama. If not, (like in the Catching Up With Fate<\/a> thread), it\u2019s single father Hakuba, where he moves back to Japan (or closer to Tokyo), and manages to get involved in his son\u2019s life, trying to be a good, sudden father, while trying to manage everything else.<\/p>\n

He and Miyu become good friends, usually, regardless of all else.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She also tends to get murdered later on by her jealous ex-husband, who figures out pretty quick who the real father of the child is. Hakuba manages to save Akira, but is often too late to save her. He takes full custody of Akira, since there\u2019s paperwork and proof and lawyers, though they settled out of court in the end, and he takes on full responsibility.<\/p>\n

Poor Miyu. I really like her.\u00a0In my head, she looks like this:<\/p>\n

But again, I\u2019m flexible in terms of timeline\/universe-specific origin. If Akira were to be introduced into the \u201cofficial\/canon\u201d story for Hakuba, though (ie, in the fanfic\/RP between Clover and I, \u2018The Call of the Raven\u2019<\/em>), Miyu would be it. And, she\u2019d be saying \u201cHakuba-kun, I didn\u2019t realize that you were that way<\/em>\u2026\u201d as she looks at Kaito.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Incidentally, tumblr-wise, there\u2019s only one thread that Akira is even in as far as this Hakuba blog goes, which is the aforementioned Catching up with Fate story. If anyone else is interested, just let me know. I feel really weird for having invented a kid for Hakuba, but then again, I\u2019ve taken this RP thing way too far already, I guess it was sort of inevitable.\u00a0<\/p>\n
