Quiet Me (from crying) //。◕‿◕。 immacurious

Leave a “Quiet Me” in my ask, and I’ll write a drabble about my character trying to calm yours down [be it from crying, from lashing out, feel free to specify.]

“Hey, hey… it’s all right,” Hakuba said, offering what he thought was a charming, crooked smile to the other detective. It had been a very, very long night, and the two had worked together on the case for three days straight with so very little rest. Despite having caught the kidnapper, they hadn’t managed to get the victim out completely unscathed, but she would be all right. With time. Even so, he could understand why she’d suddenly burst into tears as the ambulance pulled away.

The male sighed, lips pursing as the crying didn’t cease, and attempted to casually put his arm around her shoulders. “Chin up, detective! We caught the culprit… things will turn out fine. Really. We did the best we could, and we did a fine job… hush, hush.”

“Oh, you know my name…" the girl was really surprised, she didn’t except him to know it.  "…Awesome…Do you know everybody’s name? Or you just guessed…or something else… ”

“Oh, so you did received that email too~” She said, grinning. She didn’t know what was going on and what would happen, but she knew it’ll be interesting.

“I did receive the email, yes, and…” Hakuba frowned at the question, looking the girl over with a calm, appraising glance. “I know the names of many of the students here, at least enough to identify them by face, but I’m afraid that I don’t know all that much about you personally."

He offered a kind smile, biting his lip. "Would you be willing to tell me about yourself while we wait?”

Nana was about to go home when her phone rang.It was an email from an unknown person. That person asked her to wait for him/her at the gym locker room because he/she had an very important case for her. She was very excited. Someone from her school actually asked her help for a case.

The young lady walked toward the gym locker room. She didn’t even tried to think about who was the student who sent her the email. She knew that a detective should search some informations about the person who sent a request, but a student from her school would not be dangerous…right?

When Nana finally reached the hallway between the girl’s and boy’s locker room, she was surprised to find someone she knew. She never had the chance to talk to him but she knew him. It was impossible that the detective in front of her was the person who sent her the email. So, she wasn’t the only one to receive an email for a case?

“Saguru Hakuba-kun…right?”

What was that ‘right’ for? She knew it was him.

The approaching other student gave the male detective pause. He’d seen her around before, but it was not who he’d expected.

“Ah, yes, guilty as charged.  And you are…” Hakuba studied her for a moment, desperately trying to put a name to the face. “Akimoto-san, yes? What brings you here after hours, hm? I don’t suppose that you received the same email that I did, did you?”

It was probably giving too much information away all at once, but Nana did seem rather confident about where she needed to go, so it wasn’t that far to think that she might be involved somehow.

Hakuba got the initial request via email:

‘Meet me after school by the gym locker room. I have a very important case for you to solve.’

They’d attempted to cover their identity by using a different ‘from’ address, but a quick change in the details section revealed the actual source. Not only did this reveal the work of an amateur, but the name of the person in question. Sawada Michiko; a girl in her first year that he almost never saw. Not because she wasn’t there, but they shared no classes and weren’t in any of the same clubs. Honestly, he was vaguely surprised that he even recognized her name in the first place.

Gym locker room, though. Did Michiko mean the girl’s or boy’s locker room? The sender name she’d used was decidedly male, but he had a difficult time believing that she would sneak into the inappropriate room for this purpose. He certainly wasn’t going to tress pass for a silly little high school case.

In the end, the young detective waited in the hallway, right in between the two doors. Little did he know that he wasn’t the only high school detective who had been given the exact same instructions…
