whiteknighthakuba replied to your post  “The one time I wasn’t the one playing pranks and…

“Don’t be too put out, my dear darling… it’s not often that I get to pull
anything and get away with it.” Hakuba grinned, ruffling his hair. “How
was my poker face~?”

“Too good.” He snorted, waving Hakuba’s hand away and shooting him a playful glare. “Have you been practicing or something? I swear, that was almost as good as my dad’s.”

Hakuba laughed, easing off in case the other teen decided to get revenge of the hair-mussing sort. "Have I neglected to mention that the grandfather on my mum’s side was a gambler? Quite the successful one, too… the Wickham fortune had to come from somewhere, so you could say that we’re two of a kind~"

“I dunno, kinda lost count after, ah— four glasses? Don’ like wine tho’. ‘S so bitter, y’know?”

"Oh… dear. Let’s get you hydrated. Have you had anything to eat? You really ought to stick to Mudslides or hard lemonade if you’re going to drink…”

themoonlightthief:

There was a brief pause as Kaito returned the embrace, nuzzling into the crook of the blond’s neck, the familiar smell, warmth and simple presence of the other teen enough to make him relax.

“I’ve been fine,” he breathed out with a quiet chuckle. “Busy, as always, though. You know how it is. At least I’ve finally got a bit of time of now, which means I’ll be able to make sure you actually get some sleep.” And here he pulled back, lips stretched into a just a bit of a teasing smirk. “Come on, detective. I’m sure whatever it is you’re working on can wait until tomorrow.”

It felt so natural to hold him like that, and Hakuba was a little sad to watch him pull away, but of course the reasoning was more than worth it. “I suppose so,” he murmured, leaning right back in to kiss his forehead, then into his mess of hair. “Will you be staying with me~?”

themoonlightthief:

A soft laugh left him, fingers curling around Hakuba’s hands, tugging him closer while simultaneously leaning in to brush the lightest of a kiss, just a simple peck, against the blond’s lips.

“Alright, fine. I missed you a lot.” Another kiss, pressed against the corner of the other teen’s mouth, and Kaito continued, murmuring against Hakuba’s skin. “More than a lot, really. Have you been taking care of yourself while I was away?”

“More or less,” Hakuba answered, returning each kiss with a matching one, unable to stop that stupid grin on his face. “…I’ve gotten wrapped up in my case work, of course, as you’ve likely surmised, but I’ve made an attempt to keep myself alive, at any rate.”

He sighed, squeezing Kaito’s hands, then releasing them so that he could wrap his arms around him. “And yourself?”

themoonlightthief:

He hesitated, watching the other boy, then chuckled, setting the glasses down on the desk. Hakuba pushed back from it, got to his feet, and closed the distance between them with casual stride.

“Kind of missed me?” he asked, head canting to one side. “Only ‘kind of’?” It was only a mock pout at best, and he reached for Kaito’s hands as soon as he was close enough, expression warm, relieved, and happy. “Come here… I missed you, too. A great deal, in fact.”

“Hey, Hakuba? You awake?” A silly question, really, but it was only a way of making his presence known and not give the poor detective a heartattack. Smoothly sliding through the window and closing it behind him, he turned, giving the blond a small grin. Really, though, Hakuba should’ve gone to bed hours ago. Although, he was hardly one to talk. “You got a minute?”

Thank goodness for Kaito’s forethought, which reduced the chances of full-blown panic to being only merely startled. “Ah?” Hakuba asked, blinking as he turned away from his work hunched over the desk, and pulled the pair of silver-rimmed reading glasses from their perch on his nose.

“Oh, Kaito… Good evening.” The detective rubbed his eyes, then offered a pleasant smile of his own, slanted, happy to see him but, as always, not far from puzzled concern. “Yes, of course. More than, if you’d like. Is something wrong?"

Whisper~

themoonlightthief:

He sighed and scooted closer to the sleeping blond beside him, eyes opening slowly to watch the gentle rise and fall of his chest, before trailing upwards, resting on the serene expression on his face. No nightmares tonight, then. Letting out a soft breath, Kaito shifted just a little nearer, lips brushing a light kiss to the detective’s jaw, nuzzling against his neck.

A hand reached out to place itself right over Hakuba’s heart, the gentle ‘thud’ just below his palm making the softest of a smile tug at the magician’s lips, warmth and utter affection and love flooding his chest. He closed his eyes.

His.

Hakuba was his and he was Hakuba’s and there was nothing in the world he’d ever do to change that. He loved him. More than he’d thought he’d ever love anyone and if he could have him by his side, if he could stay by Hakuba’s side, then—

In a moment of sudden impulse, Kaito leaned closer, tilting his head to whisper and press a smiling kiss to the curve of his detective’s ear.

“Marry me.”

“Whisper~”

There was something about having a secret boyfriend that made lectures much more tiring. Hakuba still took notes, sure, and he studied hard, but he couldn’t stop glancing over at the boy across the room, wondering if he was just as distracted as he was. He realized it was kind of a silly question, though, since Kaito always seemed distracted, or at the very least, always seemed bored. Like a jack russell terrier, if the prankster didn’t burn off some energy several times a day, nothing — not even the furniture — was safe.

Conversely, Hakuba was usually much more calm. Usually. As it was, stretching his legs out under the desk and switching the language in which he took notes was doing very little for his own levels of boredom, and his thoughts drifted here, there, and everywhere else but the classroom.

The moment it was lunchtime, the detective was out of his desk and walking over to Kaito with long, confident strides. Fellow classmates wondered, watching — was there going to be another accusation today? The two had been so antagonistic toward each other. When was Hakuba going to let it go? Several flinched, even, when the detective dropped both palms against other teen’s desk, leaning over with a wide, challenging smirk before dropping his voice to a whisper. “Let’s get out of here.”
