“I know, I know. It was reckless, you would have probably been fine, I might have wasted your efforts at trying to allow me to escape by coming back. He can’t actually kill you, unless he just wants to ask for trouble… But damn it, tantei-san, you shouldn’t just casually push me off the building to make sure I leave, even if I do have the glider… Even if you didn’t want me to have to deal with Spider…”
Kid paused his worried pacing to glance over at the detective, whose eyes were closed and breathing was even. He was fine. They both were fine. The thief hadn’t known if imitating Nakamori’s voice to pretend the task force was coming would work, but it seemed it had. The assassin hadn’t been there when he stepped out… but Hakuba sat slumped against the wall, immediately drawing the thief’s attention as he rushed over to check for signs that the other was okay. No bleeding and still had a heartbeat, thank god. He’d waited a few moments before taking the radio out of the teen’s pocket and making an actual announcement, in his own voice, that the detective had met with some trouble on the roof and might need help.
And then, instead of rushing off, he’d waited, walking back and forth, muttering to himself. He wanted to be sure they actually did come.
Kid stared a minute before walking back to the teen and kneeling down. They should get here soon, so he might as well actually get out of sight now…
"…Sorry I came back after that…” A pause and he leaned in to give a gentle hug to the detective, voice falling into a whisper, “But I loved you too much.”

Quiet Me [Lashing out] //lol lets see how this goes
Leave a “Quiet Me” in my ask, and I’ll write a drabble about my character trying to calm yours down [be it from crying, from lashing out, feel free to specify.]
“You HAVE to back down!”
The detective yelled, uncertain how he was going to contain him, culprit or whatever he was, from doing any more harm. There wasn’t enough evidence to convict, but if Hakuba didn’t get control of Saphir soon, there would be no choice but to use lethal force…. and he could already hear the sirens approaching. How had he even got into this mess?
There wasn’t much that he could do but try to throw his arms around the other, hoping, praying, that he could get him to stop the assault. Nevermind that this was incredibly dangerous, the detective, foolishly or not, believed that this was the best way to calm what he believed to be an emotional outburst.
Whisper~
It really wasn’t proving to be a good night so far for Devin.
He tried to console himself by pointing out that things could have gone far, far worse. His thoughts weren’t wandering into that familiar numbness which never ended well, and he’d been able to snag some wine with relative ease, considering he didn’t really belong in this sort of high-class gathering. He supposed that it was common enough for teens at this sort of thing, though Devin didn’t really know.
No, that wasn’t the part that had Devin testing his theory that nobody cared how drunk he got and snaking wine glasses all evening. That would be the fact that, even though he and Hakuba had arrived together, the detective had been spending the evening flirting with several women. Fairly attractive women too, if Devin was any judge.
Devin kept emptying wine glasses, hoping that eventually he’d come to his senses and forget the reasons why Hakuba would even pay attention to him. And remind himself that he really should ignore his crush on his straight best friend.
That’s what he was telling himself when he was leaning against a marble column, draining yet another wine glass, as Devin watched Hakuba slip out of sight with a giggling girl following right behind him. “You’re perfect,” he whispered. “So much better than that.”
The Muses in my Head
“Come on, Kuroba-kun! Let me be the Bruce Wayne to your Batman! I don’t care if it doesn’t make any sense, I just want to play!”
Meanwhile:
“If I convert the ‘insert training montage here’ part from the outline into, I dunno, actual scenes where I teach her… uh… attacks like in pokemon, maybe I can… make meaningful scenes…? How is this supposed to work? Can grinding for levels in a book be fun?”
Also:
“Why do I have to do homework? This is all kiddie stuff…"
Further:
"If dad finds out that I sacrificed one of his shoes to the dog, he’s probably gonna kill me. I guess this means I should take up being a phantom thief while I can, since I’m pretty much dead anyway!”
And:
“I wonder if Saguru would go shopping with me this weekend… I want to make everyone hella jealous~”
Thus:
“…can we put dolphins in the bathroom?"
Independently:
"Where are all of my boyfriends when I need them?!”
Incidentally:
“Is it really a good idea to let senpai meddle with other peoples’ love lives again?”
“Not really, no, but it’s not as though we have a choice, do we? All that we can hope for is to minimize the damage to our reputations in the process.”
Elsewhere:
“You know… I do have great taste in pretty much everything!”
Another Segue:
“Baaaaymax~ we have some crime to fight today. Come on, buddy, let’s go!”
Transitional Word:
“What the heck kinda pokemon was THAT?”
And Finally:
“I really wasn’t expectin’ this! What a moral dilemma!"
A Little Assistance || littledetective
It was far easier to play the adorable, helpful child around those he hadn’t spent a lot of time around, or those that didn’t know his true identity. While Hakuba seemed capable on his own, he hoped that he wouldn’t become another that figured his secret.
”What’s the dog’s name, and how’d it get out?” Conan wanted to asked what it was the owner wanted from the canine’s collar, but would wiggle his way into that question later.
“Her name is Mikki, and the current theory is that she somehow got out of my client’s car while it was parked at an office building, just two miles from here…” Hakuba glanced in the direction of the building – north east – then back down to Conan with a sort of helpless frown.
“They think she just got out through the window, but I wonder if, perhaps, someone broke in to let her out. There were little scratches on the door next to the window, and it’s so terribly easy to break into those older cars. Here, I’ll show you a photo."
The taller detective pulled out his phone to scroll through the evidence that he’d captured earlier that morning, and held it out to him. Sure enough, the black car had tiny scratches in the paint, indicative of a metal object and several false starts to get between the door and the pane of glass.
"I have to admit that I’m more than a little upset at my client for leaving their dog in their parked car, but I suppose that can’t be helped now…"

If Fans Were the Ones to Write Movie 19 of Detective Conan…
Had a chat with Yuki and Ollie regarding what we know of Movie 19 (Van Gogh Sunflowers + Kaitou Kid) and we had fun musing about what we’d want from movie 19.
If fans wrote movie 19 based on current knowledge…:
- Take place in Paris (CAUSE WHY NOT? :D; just slip Conan an antidote again to get out of the country)
- Ruby Jones (Chat Noir) makes a cameo
- Hakuba plays a major part (REAL Hakuba this time not fake Hakuba (thank you movie 10))
- Ran and Aoko hang out
- Notre Dame, Louvre, Catacombs please!
- Showdown on Eiffel Tower
- Chikage appears too
- Kaito appears as himself before heist, Ran reacts to how similar Kaito and Shin’ichi look
- Aoko mistaking Shin’ichi for Kaito, Ran mistaking Kaito for Shin’ichi, everyone meeting and going “what.”
Obviously this is never gonna happen in a million years, but we can have fun. 😀
On the flipside, what everyone CAN most likely expect from movie 19:
- Conan breaks physics somehow even worse than he ever has before (looking at you Movie 18)
- EXPLOSIONS
- Flashback somehow to Tropical Land
- MORE EXPLOSIONS
- Someone dies
- Helicopters!
- “I learned it in Hawaii!”
Evidence: Photo
Have a camera photo pic of little Hakuba… about 14 years old, about to meet with his … boyfriend??? John
He couldn’t help it, he laughed, arms wrapping around Hakuba’s neck and lips brushing against his cheek. It was ridiculous. Really. So ridiculous, how every little thing was enough to make Kaito’s chest fill with pure and utter warmth and love for the detective above him and he tugged him closer, eyes closing as he nuzzled into the crook of Hakuba’s neck.
“How about cuddling and kissing~?”
“As if I could deny such a request from you.”
Hakuba returned the affection by nosing his head and kissing his hair, laughing quietly with him. Ridiculous? Yes, definitely. Wonderful? Also a definite. With a contented sigh, he flopped onto his side, eyes on Kaito’s face to gaze at him nothing but adoration, arm draped over him, smile confident and serene. He owed him kisses, yes, but for just that moment… he just wanted to look at him, lifting his hand again to brush through his bangs.
“…how many kisses would you like? You seem quite tired.” It was all teasing, of course; he’d give as many kisses as Kaito wanted.
Kaito followed along, smile wide and soft that brightened further as he caught sight of the bed and he skipped ahead of the detective and pulled him along. His fingers tightened ever so slightly around Hakuba’s hand and he grinned, glancing back at the blond briefly, before he let himself simply drop right down onto the bed, tugging Hakuba with him.
Another laugh, and Hakuba couldn’t help but follow. Like a friendly dog pretending to be a wolf, he crawled onto the bed after him, his predatory smirk mocking at best, and came to rest with limbs on either side of him. Down he went, lowering himself onto his elbows to kiss Kaito, first on the lips, then the nose, and finally his forehead, nuzzling at him afterward with no disguise of his affection for him. If he’d had a tail, it’d be wagging happily.
“What am I to do with you~?” he asked, rubbing against his cheek.
