How would you describe your current financial situation?

image

“I’d rather not discuss my finances with anyone as it is a personal matter. However, as it is blatantly obvious that I am not, by any means, poor, I will say this:

"Both of my parents come from rich families and have their own inheritances. Both have careers at which they work very hard at and do a very good job. Both my father and my mother routinely receive gifts of cash from various sources. They also donate a very sizable amount to each charity that they sponsor. And more.

"That said, I come from a rich family. I also have inheritances. My parents have set up a savings account for me, which they continue to put funds into. These are funds that I do not touch; even the ones that I have access to. It is certain that I will… barring some bizarre circumstances, of course… never have to worry, financially speaking, for the rest of my life.

"…I am very much like my parents in many ways, including working. The money that I spend is all money that I have earned in my work  as a detective, or related to such. Unlike many of my colleagues, I do charge for my services. Every time. Of course, I am more than willing to work with those who have need but not the ability to pay, but even then I do expect a fair trade of time or service for what I do. What “fair trade” is depends entirely on their situation, but it must be worth both of our time and efforts for a healthy professional relationship.

"So, each month I send out invoices for monthly retainers and hourly charges, including expense reports for the work that I do for them.  I also receive checks for magazine, newspaper, and televised interviews. I am not paid for my work with the police force as it is considered an internship, but I certainly benefit from such a relationship. All of these often come with bonuses when I’ve done my job well.

"And that is, primarily, where the plane tickets come from so that I can travel back and forth between my parents at any given time. It’s also how I purchased my car, how I afford such fine clothing, and am able to rent out hotel rooms whenever there is a need.

"Best of all, I’m able to make my own charitable contributions to causes that I deem appropriate. These I am careful about, as I know from personal experience how easy it is to turn nice, considerable people into horribly controlling monsters when they know that there are financial avenues to be tapped.

"…I tend to reserve it for criminals, honestly, who have a desperate situation that they cannot attend to while serving their sentences. But, ah, don’t spread that information around… I’m not certain how my colleagues would take it. I just cannot stand the thought of a family, for example, now without a father and breadwinner at home, unable to feed their children because he made a huge mistake. They shouldn’t have to suffer. Thus, assigned a caseworker and a budget for a couple of months… Groceries, a nanny perhaps, so that the mother can find employment…

"God, I’m turning into my parents.”

Oh my god I’m a little cow.

You should’ve been a goat /shot

and why the hell are your hands tied

image

“Oh please, the cow outfit is precious. As for why my hands are tied… I would have to assume that it was Kaito-kun’s fault. He does look rather pleased with himself, doesn’t he? Mischievous, too. Being that I’m the prey animal here, it’s entirely possible that they wanted to keep me captive for lunch later… I mean, we’re all playing pretend here, so that’s reasonable…”

“Both him and Shinichi are smiling. I don’t know if they’re in on something together or not. Also, pandas don’t eat cows, sweetheart. The only person who can ‘eat’ your cow ass is Heiji, and I don’t think he wants to.”

image

“Panda bears are actually built for eating meat but have, for some reason, chosen to eat bamboo instead which is not nutritionally sound nor sustainable. Really, pandas, like Kudou-senpai there, should be eating meat. A cow such as myself, would be a wonderful dietary staple for him.”

image

“That said, I would not be surprised in the least if Kudou-senpai and Kaito-kun were working together in their schemes. Cats, dogs, and pandas would be wise to keep a little cow like me around for snacking upon when hungry. And Hattori-san would be fortunate to be able to get a chance at my ass, thank you very much.”

image

“This would be just as true if I were a goat, as well.”

What would you use a brick for?

image

“Building a house…? I know that the team of scientists in the labs put sterilized bricks in the cages for the rats to walk on, which files down their nails… And I’ve met several people who use bricks to break windows, though I wouldn’t recommend that at all.”

image

“It strikes me that this is somewhat of an odd question… I wonder what prompted it?”

image

“Bricks are also helpful in gardens to block of sections of flora… And buried under gates helps deter dogs from digging out… I once met someone who filled the holes in bricks with soil and planted small herbs, using it as a pot."

image

"But if it were me, I would probably use a brick to build a house.”

hannah-shikari:

Other than being a total dick to Heiji? You could’ve been more polite in that Detective Koushien episode. I get that you were irritated, but talking bad about someone isn’t going to help solve the issue at hand. I feel quite disappointed with how you dealt with the situation.“

image

"Ah, yes… that little bit. I’m not one to fight fire with fire. When confronted with a point of contention, I seek the most direct and precise method of attack and go for the kill. It’s the most effective. Hattori-san threatened fire, I got out the fire hose.

"He’s used to dealing with his problems physically, which meant that using words would put him on uneven ground. From there, pointing out the flaws and inconsistencies in his methods took him down several notches, requiring him to – once he regained equilibrium – really think about his actions and proceed with proper care.

"Please note that once he began to behave as a professional ought to, I no longer had need to attack. It’s not my fault that he was brash and reckless. Honestly, it should be expected that the son of the Superintendent Supervisor would act accordingly, but alas. It was a harsh lesson, but it needed to be learned.

"Yes, attempting to save a life is very important, I agree. But there are more ways to get into a locked room than breaking down the door. Besides, did he even consider that the person might be behind the door? Destroying evidence is bad enough, but there are times when culprits will put victims directly in harm’s way for that purpose. How would Hattori-san have felt if he inadvertently injured or killed someone in the very attempt to save them?

"Granted, no one really knows what the situation is behind a locked door. Hence why I suggested the window. But there are times when a decision must be made, immediately and arbitrarily, because there simply is not time to debate. This is understandable, but those decisions must only be made if the individual is willing to accept the consequences of his actions, which one cannot do if they are not even considered.

"My role was to act as a catalyst to make Hattori consider these matters before acting. Consider the risks, the alternatives, the implications – and so on – many factors that go into each and every decision. A wrong decision, after all, is still better than a blind one made without any thought at all.

"I know that his father has been trying to get this through his thick skull for many years, but to no avail. Hattori-san is stubborn, which is both a blessing and a curse for him. By stepping in and sharing my opinion, I offered a direct challenge that he could not ignore… partly because I am a colleague and thus a rival, and also because I am not a member of his immediate family. As an impartial outside observer, I carried more weight in terms of an unbiased judge. Meaning, someone he could not just brush off.

"So you see, my actions, while admittedly not the most polite, were effective in their reason and purpose. By getting him to stop and think for a moment, Hattori-san was able to identify the culprit. I give him full marks for that – both for the correct deduction and for stepping up to the challenge. It’s to be commended.

"In the end, it’s unfortunate that the entire situation has resulted in bad blood between myself and Hattori-san, but I stand by my methods and am pleased with the results otherwise. I have offered my apologies to Hattori-san and feel no further need to defend myself on this matter."

now that you know the truth about Conan, what are your thoughts on that creepy Haibara girl he hangs out with?

image

“Haibara…? Oh! Haibara Ai of the Detective Boys, yes, I remember now. I’m mostly familiar with her work in tandem with the other children – little darlings, all of them – while chasing Kaitou KID.”

image

“As for my opinion, I think that she’s a brilliant detective in her own right. Definitely the most mature of the group (but then girls mature more quickly than boys at that age), and potentially the most intelligent. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her best Edogawa-kun when they’re older, but then I wonder if there might be sparks of romance between them in later years…?”

image

“…Ah, wait a moment… the truth about Edogawa-kun… Ah…”

image

"…”

image

“…”

image

“I retract my statements about potential romance on the grounds that I must do more research regarding the subject. Further, I wonder now if the ‘creepy’ comment was regarding, ah, certain circumstances instead of her mixed heritage…”

image

“…at least I hope it’s not regarding her mixed blood, or I will write a sternly written PSA on the subject. I do not tolerate that kind backward-thinking nonsense. ESPECIALLY not when it is directed at children!”

image

"Does she qualify…?”

Question 008 (if you give a Hakuba a cookie…)

image

image

image

“While undoubtedly delicious, three hundred seems a tad excessive, doesn’t it? I may nip one or two for myself, but if it’s all the same to you, I’d like to share the rest with my followers… Let’s see, two hundred ninety-eight divided by twenty is… 14.9 cookies per follower.”

image

“That’s still… quite an unhealthy ratio of cookies per person. But, wait, perhaps if I take an equal share and also send some over to those blokes with the very nice car…  That’s three hundred divided by twenty-three, leaving us with 13.043 per person…”

image

“No, no, that won’t do at all… I can’t imagine that anyone should want more than two cookies, but that would mean that I would need one hundred and fifty people to give cookies to… I suppose I could take them to my father’s office but even that would be excessive and then I would have to worry that my father’s colleagues are assuming that I’m trying to gain additional favor… and I can’t have that!”

image

“Perhaps one of the upcoming charity events? No… then I’d have to register them and it would not be coming from a proper catering service which would raise suspicion that we’re cutting budgets… and if I just left them there discretely, they would suspect that they were poisonous…”

image

“Actually, I don’t know the origin of these cookies in the first place… How do I know that they are safe for anyone to consume, much less my fans, friends, family, and colleagues?!”

image

“…I could always send them to Hattori-san… but I believe by this point that may be suspect for several different reasons.”

image

“I would just throw them away and be done with it, but I wouldn’t want to be rude. It was awfully considerate of that person to send me cookies in the first place, especially as I do love the occasional treat…"

image

"Well! I suppose I ought to get on testing these cookies to ensure their quality and safety. then. It should only take me three or four hours to reach a conclusion.”
