Akira found herself torn between laughter and pity; she settled for covering her mouth to stifle any sound that may escape as she switched legs. They completed the position and she whispered back, “Nothing really. Just involves combining balance, flexibility, and sweat.” For as the class progressed to more complex positions, contorting their spines (poor Hakuba, six feet, or nearly that, and trying to match the movements of a person of smaller stature such as herself), the room’s temperature rose to a balmy forty-one degrees Celsius.

At the class’s conclusion, Akira smiled at Hakuba, who was flushed with exertion. “First class is always the toughest. Welllll, actually the second class sucks. And the third. But everything after that is a breeze!” She hoped he would come back for a second or even third class; she could use the companionship.

“You know what? After hot yoga, I am always dying of heat, and I’m feeling pretty good about myself for exercising of my own free will. I like frozen yogurt. Would you be so kind as to join me?”

"Frozen yogurt?”  Hakuba found the ability to string the words together somewhat taxing after such a long and torturous class. Embarrassment was the feeling of the day, and his cheeks hadn’t lost any of their color, even  after several minutes of cool down.

Yet, as embarrassed as he was and as much as he wanted to crawl home, shower, and never come out from under his covers again, he had to admit that frozen yogurt did sound fairly tempting.

“If you haven’t lost all faith in me as a human being and still wish to be seen with me in a public setting then sure, yes, I will accompany you to get frozen yogurt."

The detective sighed, He didn’t want to go back to yoga ever again, least especially after having taken the class. But he didn’t want to give up what Baaya was holding over him, and Akira seemed like a really nice person, despite whatever crazy possessed her to willingly return to class each week.

Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Maybe the frozen yogurt would make it completely worth it. Or, perhaps, the chance to make a new friend.

All were interesting possibilities… so he shrugged. If she was okay with him, so be it. They’d go get frozen yogurt. But that didn’t mean that he would ever have to come back to class again.

Hot yoga was over.

Okay so that was overdramatic but my mun just finished packing and I’ve got my overnight bag together and everything’s wrapping up so quickly it seems

and

I have other presents in line, that will be delivered to you through a reliable source.

But.

There’s one thing I wanna give you now.

“Oh! That’s incredibly sweet of you, Emi-kun. I… well, I’m so very pleased that you care that much for me. I’m very lucky. But, ah, you… had something for me, then…?”

officertakagi:

“Actually we ran out of coffee in the breakroom so the cafe would be the best.” Takagi said. Actually it had been his turn to buy the coffee for the office but he’d forgotten about that. “If it’s okay with you, of course.”

image

“Certainly! I could use a good walk. Let me just get my briefcase settled and we can go."

The young detective sorted the files into their proper order and slipped them into the black, hard-leather briefcase that he carried, locked it, and walked it over to the filing cabinet that wasn’t actually attached to any of the desks, just pressed into a corner by a fake, potted tree. He used a separate set of keys to open one of the drawers and slipped it inside, pushing that closed, locked, and then tapped the metal surface.

"There we are,” Hakuba announced as he looked back at Takagi, smile pleased and professional. “Let’s be off, then."

magicianinthemoonlight:

“Oh? And which would those be? I don’t REMEMBER doing anything wrong and against the law. Would you remind me? I thought you were everybody’s bitch. Maybe I was wrong. You can cuddle and not be in a relationship! Here let me show you!” Kaito says looking like he was about to pounce on the detective.

“You know very WELL which crimes I mean, Kuroba-san! I KNOW that you’re Kaitou Kid and your continued denial is both infuriating and insulting!” The detective clenched his fists at his sides, trying to control his temper with seething breaths. This, Hakuba managed, but not without a scowl.

“…And if you dare touch me… especially while you insist on calling me such a degrading term, so help me Kuroba-san…"

Karin’s dull mood, brought about by being stuck in this place and also expected to eat gelatin from a box, was blown away by what she seriously considered to be a sight for sore eyes. Her own smile lit up her pale, uncolored face and a sudden fire went back into her brown eyes free of any contact lenses. She looked over at him adoringly and reached a hand out to touch the flowers, bring them closer to her, smell them.

“Hakuba-san! How did you even know I was here? I’m so glad you came to visit me, you don’t even know. It really means a lot.”

The detective let her take the flowers – they were for her, after all, and pulled a chair over to sit at her bedside. “I went by the bakery for more of those eclairs – I have to admit that they’re dangerously addicting – and was both surprised and saddened to find that you were not there. It was  simple matter, investigatory-wise, to discover your location and…” Hakuba shrugged, finally sitting. “Here I am.”

Leaning back in his chair, Hakuba looked her over, appraising her condition. “So, are you willing to give me the details? Whose kneecaps do I need to bust?”

officertakagi:

“A deduction battle huh? Sounds like a plan to me.” Takagi said with a smile. Hakuba-san was a pretty cool guy, he had to admit. Though he’d probably beat the detective at deduction. Takagi was good but not as much as Hakuba.

“Well right now there aren’t many things in the way of cases, but I’ll let you know if anything comes up. I hope it was approved though. It’d be awesome to work with you.” He said.

“Well if it hasn’t been, I’m certain that the Superintendent General will get it pushed through. Not to worry. Yes, please do let me know. And, ah, in the meantime – would you like to get coffee with me? Breakroom or the cafe down the street? My treat.”

officertakagi:

image

“Oh! No, I didn’t mean to imply anything. I just found it kind of amusing is all. I meant no disrespect.” Takagi replied nervously. “Sorry…”

image

“Ah, not to worry at all, Takagi-keiji! So long as there’s no trouble, I can easily see how it could be so amusing. Perhaps we need to have a deduction battle some day to make it official?”

Hakuba offered a smile, worries sated by the sincere and polite reply. As expected, his trust had not been misplaced.

“Or, rather, I’d love to work on a case with you. I haven’t done nearly enough in the office as of late. I think my renewal permit to work internally has been sorted and approved, at any rate…"

“So what was this that I heard about my favorite baker being stuck in the hospital?” Hakuba stood at the doorway of the hospital room, smile fit somewhere between dashing and teasing. The expression softened some, though, as he stepped inside, pulling out a bouquet of daises from behind his back.

“How are you holding up, my dear? And what, pray tell, happened to you?”

magicianinthemoonlight:

Kaito raises an eyebrow at his words. Let him escape? Now THAT was a strange concept. He keeps him his wide grin, “I never have been one to listen to warnings, Tantei-san.” he shakes his head. “If I gave it to you now, I would just have to try again later.” he adds on, “I think disappearing is the better idea. Thank you for considering though~!”

KID reaches into his pocket, his hands moving quickly before throwing a smoke bomb onto the ground in order to hide where he was standing. His legs move quickly to disappear into the smoke.

Dammit!

Hakuba grit his teeth. If Kaitou managed to disappear, it’d be the running-chase-miss game all over again. “Oh no you don’t!” The detective, normally so proper in posture and procedure, immediately threw caution to the wind and leaped at the thief, arms around to grasp whatever he could get a hold of – if anything.

There was a reason why he didn’t normally do this sort of thing. Kaitou had a knack for escaping regardless, and ending up face first on the concrete in front of the approaching officers was certainly not high on the list of things that the young detective wanted to deal with. But there was always a chance that he could catch the thief, right?

Ekoda Mystery Locker || wilddetectivenana

Hakuba got the initial request via email:

‘Meet me after school by the gym locker room. I have a very important case for you to solve.’

They’d attempted to cover their identity by using a different ‘from’ address, but a quick change in the details section revealed the actual source. Not only did this reveal the work of an amateur, but the name of the person in question. Sawada Michiko; a girl in her first year that he almost never saw. Not because she wasn’t there, but they shared no classes and weren’t in any of the same clubs. Honestly, he was vaguely surprised that he even recognized her name in the first place.

Gym locker room, though. Did Michiko mean the girl’s or boy’s locker room? The sender name she’d used was decidedly male, but he had a difficult time believing that she would sneak into the inappropriate room for this purpose. He certainly wasn’t going to tress pass for a silly little high school case.

In the end, the young detective waited in the hallway, right in between the two doors. Little did he know that he wasn’t the only high school detective who had been given the exact same instructions…
