“Inform them I’m driving a white Subaru 360 with suicide doors and Shinjuku plates.” Subaru, meanwhile, was using that special ear phone. It was useful in some regards, such as talking hands free. He opened the door and brought the stew out, then got in.

“Whereabouts are you, Hakuba-kun? I do need an address, as I’ve never been there.”

“I’ll let them know, yes."

Hakuba laughed, a little beside himself. Was he really coming to visit like this? God, he… well, all right. He gave the street address for the Hakuba Estate.

"In Ekoda, if that’s not too far away. We can accommodate overnight if you like. I don’t want to waste all of your time, Subaru-san."

“Turkey, swiss, tomato, provolone, mustard, mozzarella, bacon; all on lightly toasted sourdough. Mm, yes, cheese.”

image

“Oh. My. God. That sounds awesome. I can’t even think of it without my mouth starting to water like the niagara falls. You think you could get me one, too? Without Ai-chan noticing it?”

Immediately his stomach started to rumble and he gave up the idea to get some work done. Now, the highest priority was to get one of these sandwiches. With double cheese.

“Agasa-hakase! While I would be more than happy to make a sandwich of this caliber for you, we really do need to consider your health. Perhaps I could speak to Haibara-chan on your behalf to see if some kind of arrangement can be made to satisfy both parties? After all, this kind of sandwich is certainly one to enjoy, and I only use the highest quality, freshest ingredients. The sandwich itself is sans butter, best baked in the oven, and the turkey is so very, very lean.”

“That said, we could make do with some healthier substitutes… such as smaller portions of cheese, perhaps switching them to ‘lite’ varieties, and turkey bacon. It would still be an amazing sandwich, all things said and done. What do you say?”

DATE-O START! || akaikujixyaku

akaikujixyaku:

Well, if he was going to sum it up so eloquently— Emi blushed at the (very thinly) veiled compliments, and let her hair fall back over her cheeks while ducking into her shoulders a bit. She would believe herself loyal, but… courage wasn’t technically her forte. It was a part of her almost completely separate from Emi Himura that displayed all of the courage, as far as she could tell. But he believed it was right, so how could she argue? “Well I hope that we’re both right, then. And thank you, for putting it into words so well.”

image

She eased her hand down along the vinyl safety belt which fastened her in her seat, fingers near the release button in preparation. His company had certainly done lengths to ease her discomfort, but it didn’t change her eagerness to have the ‘safety measure’ removed, and be out of the vehicle. Still, it didn’t distract her too much, contemplating his reply, and slanting her head a slight, “You would think yourself heartless, or that you struggle with emotions and matters of the heart, when in fact you’ve got a great capacity to love and show compassion, far beyond your knowledge?

Well I wouldn’t presume to know that as true about you, just yet, but I don’t struggle to believe that you are a kind, and tender person.” A true, and good meaning gentleman down to the marrow in his bones, whether or not he acknowledged the fact regularly.

The next question was quite unusual, and Emi thought herself defeated for a good moments time, but still though of an answer to offer in reply. "I will say that, yes, I have had Dip-N-Dots before, as in I have purchased it, and it has been in my possession for some time, but unfortunately, I’ven’t actually eaten any of the peculiarly composed treat.” He’d pulled the car into a stall by then and she unclicked the hold of her belt before continuing, (with a heightened sense of ease), "It was at a baseball game, in America, with my Uncle and his two sons, as well as my brother. I had bought the treat myself, and I was frantic to get back to my seat, as the line had been longer than I thought it would be, and the inning came back into play whilst I was gone. I run back to my row, and I’m easing my way through fans when suddenly-”

She threw up her arms for emphasis, and shook her head like an excited sports goer, painting the picture better, “GRAND SLAM! Everybody around launches up from their seats, throwing up their hands and shouting with glee, which I would have myself, had the great play not been neatly pursued with a man in front of me standing right into the small container of ice-cream-dots, sending the sugary treat all over his wife next to him. They didn’t get upset, only both of them laughed, and apologized, but I just grinned and shrugged it off, before meeting them with my arms tossed up, shouting the same cheer as everyone else, a bit belated, and returning somewhat dejectedly to my seat.

Then I stole my uncle’s churro and felt better.”

The comment about the tin woodsman left color on Hakuba’s cheeks, which he chose not to address, instead allowing her to smoothly transition into her story. He grimaced at the countenance of the climax of her story, but chuckled otherwise, shaking his head.

"I’m pleased to hear that a churro came to the rescue,” Hakuba remarked, and let himself from the car once it was parked, jogging around to the other side to get her door, which he held for her. “And that you really do seem to have a story for absolutely everything. I’m pleased. Very, very pleased.”

He offered his hand to her.

“And, perhaps shamefully, grateful that they ruined the experience for you. This museum just happens to have Dip-n-Dots here for a limited time as sort of a traveling exhibit with some American ‘technology of tomorrow’ that they’re putting on right now… so you will finally get your chance to experience it. Really, aside from one very important mystery that we need to solve here, Himura-tantei,  ice cream is all this museum has to offer us tonight before we run on to the next course.”

Ekoda Mystery Locker || wilddetectivenana

Nana was about to go home when her phone rang.It was an email from an unknown person. That person asked her to wait for him/her at the gym locker room because he/she had an very important case for her. She was very excited. Someone from her school actually asked her help for a case.

The young lady walked toward the gym locker room. She didn’t even tried to think about who was the student who sent her the email. She knew that a detective should search some informations about the person who sent a request, but a student from her school would not be dangerous…right?

image

When Nana finally reached the hallway between the girl’s and boy’s locker room, she was surprised to find someone she knew. She never had the chance to talk to him but she knew him. It was impossible that the detective in front of her was the person who sent her the email. So, she wasn’t the only one to receive an email for a case?

“Saguru Hakuba-kun…right?”

What was that ‘right’ for? She knew it was him.

The approaching other student gave the male detective pause. He’d seen her around before, but it was not who he’d expected.

“Ah, yes, guilty as charged.  And you are…” Hakuba studied her for a moment, desperately trying to put a name to the face. “Akimoto-san, yes? What brings you here after hours, hm? I don’t suppose that you received the same email that I did, did you?”

It was probably giving too much information away all at once, but Nana did seem rather confident about where she needed to go, so it wasn’t that far to think that she might be involved somehow.

Sazerac tried really hard to not brush the halfer off him. Tried to put a stopper upon the urge to instinctively return him back to the floor, forcefully or otherwise. He’d offered help, after all—he’d keep the word mum of how uncomfortable he was right now, though his body spoke of the exact opposite. “That’s fine. Take your time.”

Stopped in his tracks cold and rooted himself where he stood, arms crossed. They were outside now, and the vapid night air did little to sift through thistled leaves—or anything really, in general. The bright side of this darkened sky was that at least the weather wasn’t humid. Surely a breeze would come in sooner or later.

Hakuba didn’t linger long with arms around the Osakan, carefully pulling himself back up to his feet. He took a moment to steady himself, staying close to Janus for both physical and physiological support. Managing short, measured breaths to calm himself, the detective calmed. He pressed the heel of his palm against his left eye.

"Sorry ‘bout all of that. I think I’m all right now. You said that he hospital is a bit of walk from here, yes?” His British accent was thicker, somehow, than it normally was when he spoke English. “Hold on… the body? Around here?”

*…He was looking at her oddly, and Kyouko wanted to smack the smile off his face. But that would be childish – they were not in a stressful situation, and he wasn’t openly offending her or being rude. So she just gave the male detective an unamused look before speaking.*

image

According to plan, huh…? Well, unfortunately I have a history for encountering cases that haven’t gone according to plan. So I hope that big detective brain of yours has plotted something with little room for error.

*She got in the car without looking at him further; crossing her legs and sitting motionless in the seat as she stared straight ahead out the window.*

Once Kyouko was safely in the car, Hakuba closed the door and went around to the other side to let himself in. He was overzealous and excited, which often got the sort of quasi-cold response from colleagues and associates, which the detective was used to. He  buckled his seat belt, smirk never quite leaving his face, and then glanced at her.

“Please fasten your seatbelt, if you don’t mind…” Hakuba said at first, adjusting his rear view and side mirror briefly, reaching down to turn the key and engine next. “I’ll give you a brief overview of the case on the way…”

He went over the details in his head wile he waited for some kind of a positive response; an indicator that he should continue. There were a lot of details, some of which were completely unnecessary for someone not working on the actual paperwork for it. How much would she need to know? Enough to keep her from getting killed, certainly. Hm

Rain, Rain, Go Away

With the door opened, she hesitated only for one second before making a half-jog over as to not slip and fall and look like an idiot. She really could just make her way home while evaporating the water around her, but that wasn’t exactly what she should be doing when she had to keep on the down low in front of the humans. As the human did say, catching her death out in the middle of a shower in the human world wasn’t something she wanted to happen. It would top the stupid ways of dying for a non-human.

image

“I truly do appreciate this, kind stranger,” closing the door right behind her the second all her limbs were in, she easily settled into the act of the grateful little girl. She wasn’t sure how this would progress into the future, a human did have the tendency to meddle into her business right when she didn’t need them to. The fact that they didn’t have such long lifespans was probably the only good thing to counter that meddling trait of theirs. “You have my gratitude, all of it, truly.”

“Not to worry one bit, miss. It’s really no trouble at all.” Hakuba offered a nod and a smile to her, making sure with a glance at the car’s digital dashboard that the doors were all closed before he pulled out of park.

“Seatbelt, please. Oh, and ah, I should introduce myself! my name is Hakuba Saguru. May I have yours?”  The detective kept his eyes on the rains swept road up ahead, easing his way back into traffic. “Oh, and I suppose I need to get directions to your home or wherever it is you were travelling, too."

Inconclusive With a Side of Paranormal || camiechan

“Wellllllllll…” She started. “There was a supposed unsolved murder, pretty recent i believe. In a pretty aristocratic looking mansion type house not to far from where i live. The police had hurried to wrap up the case quite quickly because of some…strange…goings on, during the investigation.” She paused for a moment, as if thinking back.

“Strange things such as people hearing voices that didn’t belong to the staff, and people complaining of a sudden dizziness and headache that didn’t seem to be of natural causes considering the house itself is fairly clean and well-kept. Aside from a bit of dust here and there due to the house being vacant during the investigation period.”

As she talked her eyes sparkled, clearly excited by the thought of supernatural events. The ahoge on her head bouncing up and down while she nodded to herself.

“But being the renown detective you are that should be a piece of cake for you right? Why not come with, I’ve been…dying…to take a look at it myself after all.”

The foreign detective considered the presented information, lifting a hand to his chin. “I don’t believe that I have enough information to deem the case a ‘piece of cake,’ as you put it, quite yet… but it certainly sounds intriguing. I wonder…”

Hakuba glanced up at the ceiling in thought, lips pursing for a moment. “I wonder if it has something to do with the building itself; the type of materials that it was built out of, something in the walls… Lead paint? Improper insulation? A leak in the pipes, perhaps… or perhaps the home is close to power lines, causing electromagnetic disturbances…"

He took a deep breath, then let it go with a slow sigh, offering a smile afterward. "Well, you’ve gotten me curious enough that I should like to go with you, I think, if it’s really not too much trouble. I imagine that the verdict thus far is ‘inconclusive’ with a side of ‘paranormal activity,’ correct?”

As much as he wanted to glare at the other detective, he could not bring himself to actually be angry. He had already caught him in a lie but his skepticism would only go so far. Especially when the blond was nearly wagging his tail. Shinichi’s brain just wasn’t built for the kind of paranoia he should have been experiencing. Haibara was right to say that it would probably get him killed one day.

Hopefully that day would not be today.

“I suppose it is,” he offered almost quietly, trailing after him with stiff shoulders. “Usually the only people who get nervous around me are criminals.” It was only a small hint of his suspicion but he assumed that Hakuba would take it. Though, now he was the nervous one.

“Yes, I have been to London. Why do you ask?” What an odd question under the circumstances… Or maybe it was just odd to him because he was suddenly so jumpy.

“I’m struggling to find an easy topic for discussion, that’s all.” Hakuba laughed, wincing at his own awkwardness. Then, again, he shook his head and offered a helpless shrug. “God, it’s not like me to get so starstruck. My apologies.”

Hakuba cleared his throat with a little cough into his fist, walking further into the cafe with a glance over his shoulder at the other detective.

“On the subject of London. Did you have the chance to see the sights, or were you stuck working business? I do hope that you got the chance to visit museum Baker Street, if nothing else.”

kansaigirlkazuha:

Kazuha was out like a light. She wasn’t moving or thinking about anything. She was just lost in a temporary state of unconsciousness. She was numbed and unable to feel the suit jacket that now covered her. If the girl had woken or had been able to see herself at this particular moment she’d never let herself live it down. Being so vulnerable in front of someone other than Heiji was unusual, no, unnatural.

Kazuha stirred, her body still but her eyes moved rapidly behind her lids. She was beginning to have thoughts. None of which really concerned her current physical situation but indeed acknowledged who the culprit could be. She wasn’t always the most friendly person and she wasn’t going to deny that but she hadn’t understood whom she could have pushed so far off the edge.

Kazuha had been in countless arguments and petty fights with girls at Kaihou Academy. In which, she had taken very seriously considering who it involved but she’d never imagined they’d taken it just as seriously. She shouldn’t have put it past them though…

As the girl opened her heavily lidded eyes and immediately stumbled on the detective she let out a soft sigh. He’s still here… It wasn’t as though she’d hated his company she just didn’t understand the meaning of him sticking around. That is of course until she’d realized exactly what kind of predicament she was in. R-Right…Fresh case-bait.

image

She sat up slowly feeling worn down and exhausted as she’d let Hakuba’s suit jacket fall to her lap. Her mind quickly running over the names of the girls she’d gotten physical with and totally throwing the possibilities of a male being the culprit aside. After all, Kazuha believed most women to be the devil.

The detective, who had been inspecting the trap previously set, paused when he heard the sound of moving fabric. Hakuba turned back to look at Kazuha, then offered a small smile, stepping over to return to her side.

“Ah, you’re awake again, then? Take it easy; you’ve had quite the scare, but help is on the way. Can I get you some water or anything else, Toyama-san?”

He crouched next to her and reached out a hand to touch her shoulder, to steady her.
