“That sounds like a good idea.” Kaito nodded and got up, heading over to the bathroom. He stopped in the doorway and looked back. “Do you wish to stay the night or will you be on your way?“

"Ah…”  Hakuba blinked, confused, watching Kaito as he left. Until he realized that he was doing so. He looked up at the ceiling, flushed. “Oh… ah… well if it’s an invitation then, ah, I’d like to, certainly… To make sure that you’re doing okay… ah… But I really don’t wish to intrude.”

“Nice to hear that things are improving, Hakuba. How is that thing involving not being able to stop eating? Are you okay now?”

image

“Ahaha, yes, and thank god for that. I already had trouble maintaining any sort of appetite before, but after the last three days I am so very done with eating for the moment.”

“Oh. And, ah, I couldn’t help but notice that you’re no longer an itty bitty Kaitou. Nor are you a ferret. Thusly, I have two questions for you. First: how are you? Second: do you recall what I had mentioned the other day about… merciless kisses?"

“Actually, no. I’m fine right now. I just hope the person knows what they’re doing.” KID sighed and shook his head. He really did hope Sazerac knew what the hell he was doing. This was a mess. A very large one at that.

That was the answer that Hakuba had expected. So he sighed himself and crossed the room to the bed. It was hopeless, but that’s how things were. As he undressed again, he looked over his shoulder at KID and gave a weary smile.

“…If you ever decide you could use my help, you’ll let me know, won’t you?”

“Pardon my lack of tact, then." KID was weighing the options Hakuba had just presented him. Yes, it was important to prevent him from doing anything like that, but a harness would be a problem. He didn’t want anything making it easier to catch him as a human and he really didn’t like anything that felt binding or restricting.

"Mmm, well, I don’t know what you’ll do, if you try training. And I was joking.”

“Ah… I was joking, too. No apologies necessary or anything like that.” Hakuba returned to frowning, wondering where he’d gone wrong in their conversation this time. Was he always at odds with people, even those he genuinely liked to be around?

The detective got to his feet and regarded the leg on the desk.

“…I should dispose of this.” He looked over his shoulder to Kaito, the blood, the nakedness. “And… you should get cleaned up. You’ve had a very busy evening."
