“Perhaps… but you know, I’m hearing all of this talk and still no one’s come to my door…”
“Ladies and gentlemen!” KID grinned, standing up on the rooftop. The exhibit had closed at ten, but the cops and his fans were swarming about. They figured out the note after all. Good. That would make this much less boring. Over his outfit, he had a black cloak and a red and gold scarf. It was an interesting occasion, stealing something unrelated to gems after so long.
“I hope you enjoy this evening. You see, I may be a lion at heart and bold, but I can be rather ambitious. A gem of our time is what I seek and I shall get it. Maybe read it a bit before I return it. It is a fine series, after all, and I do need more practice with my English. I’m getting rusty.”
He bowed and used a smoke grenade so he’d appear to disappear. After he was out of sight, he slipped down into the crowd, making sure his Kaitou outfit was hidden and his black cap on.
Hakuba always loved a good heist, but even he had to roll his eyes at Kid’s speech. After all, the thief could have just snuck into his bedroom at any point and borrowed his copy of the series! But, ah well, it was fun and a very good opportunity to break out his robes, school uniform, scarves, and facsimile wand. This got some looks from those on the police force, but the young detective didn’t care. They were all very aware that he was a half-brit, and wore such tonight just as he did his superior-quality, completely detail-accurate reproduction tie. That is to say, with pride.
But unlike the other detectives, Hakuba stood at the back of the crowd, only observing the movements of those within. He had a radio on him from the force, and listened to their coordinated efforts, simply smirking. With Hattori-san and Edogawa-kun already chasing after the elusive thief, what was the point of getting himself involved?
Besides, he had three more scarves to give out, and figured that it would be better for them to come to him instead of pointlessly going in after them.
“Bring a robe, too! Let’s just hope Akako doesn’t decide to mess around with said heist.”
“There are very few things that I am willing to ‘coslplay’ for… and this is one of those. I’ll bring an entire arsenal to make sure that your detectives are adequately equipped for this task.”

“Also, Koizumi-san… yes, let’s… hope that she stays far, far away.”
Emperor Penguins are about a meter tall (they’re the largest living penguin species), so it would be very awkward to pick him up. He woke up and waddled over to Hakuba, blinking blearily as he did so. KID made a noncommittal noise at the idea.
“It’s always noncommittal with you, isn’t it? But, ah-hah! I have a camping chair. And a very warm coat. AND! A blanket. Which you can sit on, if you like. You sure you don’t want to sit in my lap and snuggle?”
“Oooh, this will be very fun, detective! Just how much can I get you flustered throughout the event whilst you try to keep your pokerface in front of your version of an adoring crowd? The tables have turned.”
“I’ve never faltered in my act before, Kaitou-san… I’ll show you that you’re not the only one who can deceive an audience. And then, when all is said and done and I’m still chill as Bond, you’d be good enough to accompany me to a private after party so that I can claim my prize. What do you say, ma charmante voleur?"
“Just a bit of playful teasing. And I’d say your more professional demeanor can come across as a bit stuffy if that’s all someone sees of you. It’s good for you to relax every once and a while.”
“Psh, everyone loves Professional Hakuba. It’s very popular with the ladies, especially. I will have to demonstrate, it sounds like, just how amazing and unflustered I can be!”
“I believe, after that dogpile, I’ve already hit my ‘fluster you’ quota until the charity event rolls around. And it’s not as though I have to try, to be able to fluster you, anyway.”
“…wait, you’re not going to fluster me at the event, are you? With my parents there and everyone? The people who only see the calm, confident, collected, and suave me? Please tell I misunderstood you."
