"But I meant it was below the belt to emotionally blackmail Hakuba about senpais.”

“I’m actually a bit more worried you need to sit down. You’re the one so concerned and fretting. Just relax for a moment and breathe.”

KID really wasn’t sure though. If that were somehow to happen, how would he react? “Well, surprised is the immediate thing that comes to mind.”

“Surprised…”  Hakuba huffed, lips curved into a sort of pout at that. “You’re surprised. I don’t even know if you’re willing to be my boyfriend and now we’re going to be parents? I suppose being surprised is… reasonable in this situation, but… What are we going to do? Are you okay with this?”

“Relax, Hakuba.” Okay, swaying was bad. Maybe it could be salvaged, though. Didn’t Hakuba have experience with Kaitous claiming this in jest? (If one of them did end up pregnant somehow, there would be the problem of crying wolf to attend to. Of course, that depended a lot on the ‘if’ part of it.)

“I’m fine. Take the day as it comes and all that, you know. No point in panicking over even big events. Sure, concern is fine, but not panic.”

“I’m… I’m concerned, yes. Yes, I’m concerned. But if you’re fine, that’s good. Are you… are you upset? Are you worried? Are you happy? What can I do? How can I help? Are you.. Are you feeling all right? Do you need to sit down? Can I get you anything?!" 

And so began the recitation of said several hundred questions.

It would be worth it to troll him. Such lighthearted fun would be needed after the rather rough week nearly everyone seemed to have. “I am not an expert at magic, Hakuba. I am unsure if someone in a mask decided it or if it’s part of the curse.”

“Ah… .. I… I see. Ah.” Unconventional, yes, but was it a problem? Hakuba tilted his head, gulping hard. How did KID feel about it? Was he okay? He had a hundred questions run through his mind at once, then another, and another, and he swayed where he stood – but just a little. Flustered, confused, he bit his lip and tried to compose himself. This was a very serious matter, after all. “Are you… all right? What can I do? Tell me… Anything. I… I’ll… I’ll do anything.”

[text] I was thinking about working on a riddle for something I’m planning on taking, but other than that, it’s been quiet. What happened that made you stay home?

“Eh? Seriously? That was supposed to be a joke. But, I guess…yeah, I think we can. Though, that sneaky thief’s a tough and troublesome case.”

“That he is, that he is indeed… but all the more reason why we should work together, yes? Perhaps we’d have a chance to take him down once and for all. I have some inside information, you see… and I’ve been following his career as a thief for quite some time now.”

Hakuba really had no intention whatsoever of letting Kaitou KID get caught, but if the thief wanted him to chase, he’d chase. And if he got to spend time with Conan in the process, all the better. Especially as it would allow him the opportunity to learn, perhaps, just what made Conan – and by extension, Kudou – as incredible as he was. 

But he wasn’t going to mention that.
