Remember guys, roleplaying is not a competition or a job or a chore. You’re not forced to do it, you don’t win any prizes for being the best or the most active or the most open, and you most certainly don’t get paid for it.
Every portrayal is different and unique and equally important as any other interpretation of a same character. Even if you think another person’s take of the character is better doesn’t mean that others agree- you can still be their favorite for any reason they want, be it muse portrayal or mun attitude or fond memories of interactions they had with you and that they did not have with the other.
It’s one thing if you decide to delete your blog for personal reasons like IRL troubles or hatespam in your askbox (you can always switch off the anon option!), but don’t delete your blog just because you think someone else does a better job than you. You never know how long they’ll still be around, and for all you know they’ll be gone again the day after you deleted your blog.
Roleplaying is not a job.
Roleplaying is not a contest.
Roleplaying is not where you can just ‘replace’ people.
Just stick around as long as you can and as long as it’s still fun for you.

It is, under no circumstance, appropriate or allowed. If someone doesn’t want to interact with you, for whatever reason, do not turn around and threaten to delete your blog.
I know it’s hard to make and keep friends sometimes, but don’t PERSIST if they’ve made it clear that they’re not interested. IT HAPPENS, MOVE ON, FIND SOMEONE THAT WILL ENJOY YOUR COMPANY/INTERACTIONS.
The moment you make a post saying ‘oh i’mma delete now byyye’ is the moment you’ve screwed yourself over and lost ANY chance for respect. Same thing goes for if you bad-mouth the person for refusing you.

Do you ever have a roleplayer that you absolutely adore interacting with but you constantly feel like you bother them?? So you see them online and you just kind of wave from the corner like “hello yes please love me” and then retreat into sadness?
even then i don’t think he’s just a proto-shinichi, although he does get a lot closer to it. hakuba plans ahead more than shinichi does, seems to be more aggressive, and is way more obsessed with detail. shinichi can plan ahead (albeit in convoluted ways that tend to not work out quite how he planned) but he’s better at reacting and improvising in the moment than he is at being prepared for shit.
Oh I meant more like he really is, literally, Gosho’s prototype for Shinichi.
Yes, they are very different, agreed with you there. But Shinichi is technically the newer model version of Hakuba in terms of role, if that makes sense.
the thing that pisses me off so much about hakuba in magic kaito 1412 is how he says that “the truth will always come to light” instead of “why would you do such a thing” because you could learn so much about him from “why would you do such a thing” (especially since nakamori said “bad guys never have a reason!” upon hearing about his catchphrase) like: he’s interested in the psychology of the criminal, he knows actions have motives, he knows not everything is black and white, he knows “criminal” does not always equal “bad person” etc. but instead they changed it to “the truth will come to light” and made him more like shinichi like come on was that change necessary you just took away a big chunk of hakuba’s character that set him apart from the other teen geniuses everything else is just a nitpick but this particularly made me mad

Well, his original catchphrase is still canon… so that’s still there… I’m going to assume that he has multiple catchphrases. I don’t see why he wouldn’t.
But, yeah, I know that the whole “why would you do such a thing?” is the central core to when I write Hakuba, and without that, so much falls apart. Mostly because he really does, as said, become just a Proto-Shinichi.

New Icons
Finally, I have new icons… this brings my total of canon Hakuba icons to 275. You can see them all here. Please don’t take/use them, though, as I’ve made them specifically to match my other RP accounts.
Also, as you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been working on my tumblr theme a lot… It’s still not quite done (I need to rewrite some of the meta copy, add a threads page, an important tags page, and finish styling the custom google search), but it’s looking pretty, right???
I’m going to be making some supplementary icons soon (young and adult Hakuba, young and teen Akira, Baaya, Marion, Twig, etc…), but once that’s done, I’ll be working on giving the same treatment to askconan… and then maybe sugoisonoko?
Whew… lots of work…
I wasn’t falling asleep until I looked at my drafts… slowly, but surely, whittling that number down… but it’s still not zero, and omg I am so tired.
On the plus side, I have two job interviews this week… wish me luck!
