“Now, now Kudou-kun. It wasn’t an insult, it was a challenge.”

((As mun continues to laugh hysterically in the background.))

"Oh YEAH?! We’ll see about THAT!”

“My dear Haibara-chan, you do realize that I share headspace with him, yes?”

miyanohaibara:

Ai had been yelling at Agasa again for sneaking sweets into his laboratory so he could eat them while working. She noticed the lack of food inside the cupboards. She made a mental reminder to buy ingredients for stew later,

But for now she just needed to go on a walk,

She had ensured that ‘Agasa’s Secret Stash’ was hidden where he couldn’t find it…for now. She let out a huff as she got outside the gate.
She looked left and right, you never know when someone is just going to pop out of nowhere. But instead of Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, she just saw a blonde man standing in front of the Kudou Residence. She walked up to him,

“Oh, if you’re looking for Kudou-kun he’s out on a case.” She said in her usual monotone voice.

The little voice caught Hakuba’s attention, drawing him out of his concentrated train of thought. “Ah- what? Pardon?” Blinking, he glanced down at her and hesitated for approximately 2.333- seconds before his mouth broke out into a wide and pleasant smile.

“Oh! You’re Haibara Ai, aren’t you? One of the infamous Detective Boys. You’re staying with Agasa-Hakase, if I’m not mistaken…” He then bowed, formal and polite. “A pleasure to finally meet you in person. I’m Hakuba Saguru, a detective not unlike Kudou-kun himself.”

It’d been weeks since Hakuba had last paid a visit to the Kudou home; it was mostly because he’d been so busy, but also partly because he’d become so entirely discouraged with the investigation that it pained him. His colleague had been missing for months, and while there were whispers and rumors that he was still alive and well, he’d yet to find any concrete evidence himself.

All of this bothered him, of course. It was so like the media to ignore a missing detective who had once been their shining star simply because there hadn’t been a scandalous story reported along with it. As far as Hakuba was concerned, there was something very, seriously wrong, and the lack of attention on the matter pointed to a coverup.

While that had waving red warning flags all over it, Hakuba found himself continuing the investigation in his spare time, which included making housecalls. Which is what he was doing that morning, parking his car in front of the house and approaching the gate with a sigh. It didn’t look like anyone was home – as usual – but as his phonecalls and letters had been ignored, he felt he had no choice.

It took very little effort to get through the gate, and he made his way to the door with a grim frown, ready to be disappointed yet again.

Matters of the Heart (7)

7. What does it take for you to consider someone a friend?

“I’ll assume that you mean a genuine friend and not just an acquaintance or colleague. It usually involves some degree of friendly banter and a show of weakness on both parties, coupled with acceptance. For example, someone might call me out on a hypocritical statement of mine, but in a way that denotes care or humor, not cruelty, and then allows me to continue without trying to force a change. I want to be seen for what I am, vices included, and still treated with respect.

”…as you might imagine, I have very, very few friends for this reason. Many people are eager to point out my flaws and champion their superiority over me. Conversely, there are some who have the disturbing idea that I’m somehow infallible. Ridiculous. I do not cherish naivety.“
