Hey man. I know this is a really weird question, but do you have any advice as to how to better separate muse’s emotion from mun’s? Like, my muse is a super jealous idiot, and I really hate that I too get all hot in the face and stressed out whenever my muse is. We’ve always been super connected, but it’s to the point where I get too stressed to deal with daily life. Do you know any good ways to cope with this?

fuckyeahroleplayadvice:

This isn’t a weird question at all and is something that can happen pretty often to roleplayers.

Here are a few things to do to separate yourself from your muse:

  • Take a step back. When you notice these feelings are occurring or happening, stop. Assess what is happening and calm yourself down. remind yourself that you are not upset, but your character is. Not you. This isn’t always easy when you’re in the mindset of your character when you’re writing, but you need to remind yourself they are the one’s upset, not you.
  • Take a break. If you feel that it’s stressing you out in your daily life, take a break. Maintaining your health is really important. Even if it’s just for a day or so, take some time to yourself while you sort these feelings out.
  • Write it out and catch yourself. After your break, I suggest getting some prompts. Some nice, gritty, grab-your-heart, super emotional prompts. One’s that will make your character angry, uncomfortable, upset, etc. Then write it. When you notice yourself getting angry, or upset yourself–stop! Assess your feelings and then bring yourself out of the situation. Your character is upset, not you. Remind yourself that your emotions and the way you feel about the current situation are not inclusive.

When you’re able to catch yourself before you get overly upset/stressed, eventually you’ll be able to manage it better. This takes practice and isn’t something that will happen over night, but know this isn’t a rare thing and happens a lot.

But the most important thing is to take care of yourself. If you’re stressed out due to roleplay right now, take a break.

I hope this helps!

Just because your pain is understandable, doesn’t mean your behavior is acceptable.

Keep this one in your back pocket for the next time someone acts like an ass and then tells you they’ve been through a lot of stuff. Respectful and yet still firmly keeping respect for yourself.

when people apologize for being late with replies i get confused.
is there a deadline i was unaware of? am i gonna get demoted
because i’ve been missing it this whole time??

darlings:

your replies are not late, but exactly when your muse/schedule allows
i will never fault you for taking your time
i hope you’ll do me the same courtesy because i’m super slow at times
you are awesome! even when you’re slow! don’t forget that

Some things to remember…

If your roleplay partner:

  • Flat out tells you “your character sucks”, “your writing sucks” etc
  • Guilt-trips you/says mean things when you roleplay with others and not them
  • Makes fun of you for not drawing your own character
  • Makes fun of you personally/mocks you
  • Isn’t considerate of your real life problems/busy-ness
  • Tells you that you cannot roleplay with others
  • Tells you what to do/manipulates you/belittles you
  • Makes you constantly feel like you’re a terrible person when you aren’t
  • Floods you with messages even after you’ve told them to stop/that you’re busy and cannot roleplay

Find a new partner.

These are often common in relationships that are toxic. If you feel like you’re in a toxic relationship with your roleplay partner, drop them, get out. You deserve much better than that, and there ARE better, nicer, more polite partners out there for you. I promise.

I really hate it when people confuse the terms “Canon”, “Headcanon” and “Alternate Universe”.

“Canon”: Something that has been outright been stated in canon outside of a joke, in a way that unambiguously means this exact thing and nothing else.

“Headcanon”: It was never unambiguously specified in canon, but I interpret this on my own in a way that goes along with canon without contradicting it

“Alternate Universe”: My game, my rules.

They are not interchangeable terms.

wait, people get these confused?

Oops I messed up on the division ask! What I meant was how is the Tokyo Metro Police Department set up like with the divisions and all of that haha. And how far is Beika from Ekoda?

dcrewatch:

(For those who saw the previous answer, Yuki kindly pointed out I’d forgotten about the license plates used in MK Specials, oops!)

Anon sent this part of the question previously:

“Tokyo is a pretty big city right? I get so easily lost on names lol can you tell me which division Nakamori and Megure are in? And also how far apart are they from each other (like an hour away or so like that kind of thing)? Thanks!”

For info on the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department characters and their divisions, check out this page on the DCW Wiki: http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Tokyo_Metropolitan_Police#Members

Specifically, Megure is Division 1 (Homicide) and Nakamori is Division 2 (Criminal Affairs). Both are Rank 6.

Beika is implied to be a Special Ward of Tokyo…I think. (Or maybe just a large city…) It pretty much takes the place of Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan in real life.

Ekoda is similarly implied to be a Special Ward or at least a city within one. If you go based on the license plates in the Magic Kaito specials, Ekoda takes the place of Minato, Tokyo, Japan.

However! There is a real life Ekoda Station in Nerima and then there’s Egota Park (uses the same kanji) which is in Nakano. Which Special Ward is right out of the three? Notta clue! (But the way I see it, Nerima = Ranma ½ headcanons and Minato = Sailor Moon headcanons, so everybody wins!)

According to Google, the distance between Shinjuku and Minato is 30 minutes give or take via car/train. For Shinjuku to Nerima/Nakano is about 30 minutes give or take via car/train.

And for further trivia, Shibuya, where Ran and Sonoko encountered Kaito and Aoko before the Black Star heist is about 20 minutes by car/train from Shinjuku, 30 minutes by car/train from Minato, and 35 minutes by car/train from Nerima/Nakano.
