The Famous Detective Couple: Expecting?!

japansfamousdetective:

At his relief she gave a smile of apology, moving to rest a hand on his arm. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to worry you.” She’d just been so intent on getting her work done, but then she was like that with everything.

“A break sounds wonderful, lord knows I could use some food too.” Pausing, she laughed a little bit at that. “Listen to me, you’ve actually managed to get me to admit when I need to eat! How could you?”

She understood a little bit about being lost in the new home, smaller then their actual home (though about the same size-ish) when she lived at the Kudo Manor. It would take a little time to get used to this place. Their place.

“Where ever you want to go, I’m game. Just as long as food comes into the picture at some point.”

He laughed, pulling away from the doorframe to really look her over. “I’ll make certain of it, dear. Definitely food. Probably on the way back. I was thinking we could look at some curtains… for our office?” Hakuba took her hand and tugged her to the hallway, gesturing with his free arm to the other bedroom.

“It’ll be our office for now, but eventually… Unless you think it would be better in the bedroom?  Anyway, we need to make this apartment look a little bit more… I don’t know… lived in, don’t you?”

He looked into the room, covered in book cases and desks waiting to be put together, then back at her, drawing a hand to her back and around her waist.

“Pink or blue… perhaps a more gender-neutral sort of color… green? Sage?” Hakuba pulled his keys out of his pockets, then tugged her toward the door. “I’ll drive.”

The Famous Detective Couple: Expecting?!

japansfamousdetective:

She’d admit to having thought of talking him into waiting until Spring, but hearing him so excited for the idea just made her excited… And really whenever the pair got excited about something there was nothing to do but to move in. Besides, the smaller place was nice and helped ease some of her anxieties. And was definitely not as lonely as the Kudo Manor was.

Not that she could be lonely with Hakuba at her side.

Hearing him call her finally, it helped that he’d reached the bedroom, Shinori poked her head out of the bathroom and smiled some. “Sorry, Hakuba-kun~ I was unpacking the toiletries.” Because she was going to get one box unpacked for sure and would likely need a bath later in the evening so she might as well.

A bright smile was on her face, strands of hair clinging to her face as the dark locks continued to fall from the half-assed ponytail she’d thrown her hair back into. If only so it would stop clinging to her neck.

“What were you saying love?”

“God, I swear…” Hakuba said, giving a sigh of relief at having found her, and leaned on the doorframe, watching her. “This apartment is infinitely smaller than the estate, but still large enough that I’m getting lost. Do you think you might be able to take a break?”

It was strange, living with someone. They weren’t even fully moved in, obviously – most of their furniture wouldn’t be there until the next day or so, being delivered by such-and-such company at whatever time – but it was so very odd to have someone around all of the time. Even at the dorms, he never saw his roommate. Ever. Really, he might have seen him at most for fifteen minutes a day if that. And then, they’d carefully divided the room.

Here, they were sharing. And, as easy-going and agreeable as Hakuba normally was, he wasn’t used to that at all.

Not that it was really a problem, he just didn’t know how to relax in it. He smiled, though, at her hair and her flushed face from working, giving another sigh. “I was thinking we could go to the hardware store.. or something… perhaps pick up a bite to eat, hm? Carryout, even?"

The Famous Detective Couple: Expecting?!

No one should ever be so lucky, but Hakuba had managed, somehow. He looked around the mostly empty living room and gave a sigh, wiping his brow with the back of his hand, then looked over toward the adjoining kitchen. It was a small place, only two bedrooms, one bath, and no washer and dryer, but it was nice. They could have afforded a better place, probably, but this one was nestled right between the university and the metropolitan police station, close to a train line, and in a charming – and safe! – neighborhood.

The blond took stock of the moving boxes that were still scattered around the floor, only half of them opened, and even less unpacked. It was a lot to be doing so soon after exams, but there wasn’t a lot of time before the next term. Really, they probably should have waited to move in together until the spring, but once the impulsive idea had been sprung, there was nothing to stop the pair of stubborn detectives.

Besides, neither of them could ever back down from a challenge, especially not when it was so terribly exciting.

“Shinori-kun…?” Hakuba called, scratching the side of his head as he checked his watch, pulling himself away from the boxes marked with the kanji for ‘dishes’ and ‘linens.’ “I think now would be an excellent time for a break, don’t you?"

He wandered into the little hallway, nearly tripping over one of the many boxes marked ‘books,’ then put his hand over where they hoped to have a stacked washer/dryer installed in the upcoming months, smirking at the ugly, tattered wallpaper that they still needed to tear down.

"I thought we could take a little drive… perhaps go look for some better curtains, like we’d talked about? Perhaps blue, or…” Hakuba poked his head into the bedroom that they’d designated to be their joint office, looked around, then started to the room where the bed was, still only a mattress with headboard, legs, and other parts leaned against the wall.

“Darling, where did you go?"

expensivebirdboy:

This was the third time that week Dick had seen the blond roaming the area. Though it wasn’t unusual for some of his or any of his friends’ customers to drop by several times a week, what did catch Dick’s attention was the fact that this particular man never seemed to do more than talk to a few of them, before heading off.

What made it even stranger and more suspicious, however, was the fact that the blond had decided to show up shortly after the reported findings of a third victim to, what the press recently decided to name, Ripper’s Rival due to the fact that whoever it was only seemed to target prostitutes.

It was enough to make Dick snort, despite the faint tinge of worry in the back of his mind. The latest victim had been male, after all.

Though he doubted this particular blond had anything to do with it. He didn’t look like he’d be able to even hurt a fly, but Dick didn’t like the slightly antsy feeling in his gut that appeared along with the other man every time he decided to drop by and, with a huff of determination, he decided that it was time to figure out just exactly what he was up to once and for all.

Plastering a playful smile on his lips, Dick slowly moved to approach the blond. He’d just finished speaking to a woman Dick faintly recalled as Honey – really, some of thee people had no imagination when it came to names – and, head tilting ever so slightly to the side and one hand settling casually on a thin hip, he lightly tapped the other male’s shoulder.

“I’ve seen you running around here all week. Can’t find anyone that suits your tastes?”

The shoulder tap almost made the blond jump, but he managed to keep it together as he turned to face him, swallowing once before looking the young man over. Hm. Interesting. So he’d been watched. This one seemed to possess more brains than some of the others that he’d spoken to, which was an enormous relief.

After all, when trying to get witness testimonies and statements, it was helpful to find someone willing to talk, first, since everyone was so afraid of questions, and being able to supply helpful answers. Hakuba was tired of hearing ‘I don’t know’ and ‘never heard of ‘im’ and ‘just what are you interested in again?’ and so on. Telling them that he was a detective hardly seemed to help, either; they usually just ran.

But this one…

Hakuba tilted his head at him, dark brown eyes searching his face as if he were trying to decide something. Yes, there was definitely something present in this boy.

“I haven’t, no…” he said, finally, not bothering at all to hide his British accent. “At least, not until now, perhaps…? Assuming that you’re available, anyway. Apologies, I’m a bit, ahem, new to this… You may have to walk me through the protocol."

Dammit, keibu! KID growled. He wanted answers, but the inspector wouldn’t give him any! There has to be some way…

image

Ah! Perfect! He coughed, changing his voice as he dialed again. The voice would be good- he just hoped everything else would fit.

“Nakamori, this is Superintendent Hakuba. I’ve been trying to contact my son, but I can’t reach him. Do you know where he is?”

The inspector was much more cordial and startled upon hearing that voice. Oh shit. The Superintendent General! “We’re trying to find him right now, sir, don’t worry… we have cleanup and rescue crews combing the building, but we think he might be under the debris…"

It wasn’t good news at all, but at least Nakamori was being up front about it.

"There’s a good chance that he’s managed to get out and we just haven’t seen him, but we’re doing everything that we can to comb through. We’re working on the south end of the building right now, sir, and we’ll give you updates the moment we have them."

As the crews worked, the concrete shifted. Metal rebars bent and moaned under the stress of being moved with so much weight on top of them.

Hakuba was dimly aware that he was in danger and that it was difficult to breathe, but he could not muster the strength to do anything about it. Nothing at all…

…so dark…

I’m Innocent Really

Saphir hated this. Someone had done something stupid and now everyone in his branch was getting investigated. Luckily had the smart idea of backing everything of his up that was not…well the information he had would get him jailed and then he’d have to explain about how his name was not Enzio, why he had fake ID, fake passports.

“Venetici, Aquatici take your human forms now!"

For some reason, Hakuba Saguru found himself among those who had been chosen to conduct the initial investigation. He suspected that it had something to do with Nakamori-keibu’s distaste for him, but there was nothing that he could really do about it. This sort of thing had the potential for a lot of results, which the administration liked to see, and if they turned anything up, it would certainly add to the young detective’s rappor.

Not that it really mattered to him; he wasn’t actually with the force, nor did he intend to stay with them in the long run, but… but anyway. Perhaps something would turn up.

He walked with a company of other officers, standing taller than most despite being more than ten years younger, and took stock of the area before introductions were to be made.

At least we’re punctual…

Terminal Affirmation

smokebombsandmirrors:

Right … he had to leave. Kaito nodded his head and smiled awkwardly at the smirk. “Safe travels ….”

Once Hakuba had all of his belongings, he gave Kaito another little smile and a nod, then turned away from him. “Goodbye, Kuroba,” he called to him, looking back once more over his shoulder. “Don’t get into too much trouble while I’m gone."

He started up the walkway to his terminal where they had begun boarding, and every step away made the thudding in his heart louder and louder. How was he supposed to just leave him?

"I’ll miss you.” He didn’t look back as he said it, but he didn’t keep his voice very quiet, either, just letting out air as he tore himself away from the person who had become all together far too much to him to leave. But here he was. Leaving.

The Neighborhood Watch

miyanohaibara:

“Ah, right this way.” She walked to the gate of the house and opened it, followed by the door.

“The house isn’t that much of a stick to Japanese decor, so you can leave your shoes on if you’d like.” She makes her way to the kitchen to boil the water, and prepared two cups for them.

“I’ve been meaning to try the tea Yukiko-san brought during her previous visit from London.” It was true, Hakase and Kudo-kun didn’t really like tea. So she didn’t have any chance to try the tea when they all got back from the London case and all.

“Anyway, speaking of London. Have you heard about that bombing incident at Wimbledon with Minerva Glass?”

“Ah yes, I did…” Hakuba said as he took his shoes off, anyway, more out of habit than anything. He made sure that the door was firmly closed and locked behind him – as he was prone to do – and then stepped after her to look around. It’d been some time since he’d visited the professor, but while the structure was the same, everything else about the house seemed more… personable.

It was likely Haibara-chan’s influence, he decided, and the involvement of the shounen tantei. How wonderful it must be for the detective to have company so often, he thought, and wandered slowly over to where Haibara was.

“Ghastly that it happened, but I’m mostly disappointed that I wasn’t able to be there for it. I love Wimbledon, and it seemed like such an interesting case… oh, such a shame that I missed it. But at least things turned out all right, didn’t they?"

Ah, to talk of home again! The halfbrit couldn’t have been more pleased.

Saving the Blonde Prince

Super Sailor Moon was on the case, chasing down a rather nasty monster who didn’t seem interested in her in the least. Not the first, wouldn’t be the last, but she had to get it under control lest innocent people be hurt, and that was including the person the monster used to be! Of course it was drawn to humans, wanting their energies, but she had thought they’d be far enough away!

Apparently not as it seemed to heading right for a crowd of people and she picked up the pace, red boots clacking hurriedly to try and out pace it but she knew she wouldn’t make it. Shoot, and it looked like a crime scene too. Damn it!

“Oi, Mister! Get everyone out of the way!” she cried out, hoping any of the police officers there would hear and listen to what she was saying.

The officers did scramble, but it was more in panic than any sort of orderly calm and obedience. What in the hell was going on?! What was that thing?! There were screams, there were people pushing others, and there were policemen barking orders – all sorts of different kinds.

Save one, of course, who wasn’t actually a policeman but a detective. Hakuba glanced over to the woman, gaze shifting over her form with a sort of hesitant stare. Cosplay…? He sighed, This wasn’t good. The commotion going on was just going to cause more and more chaos. Yes, some people were panicked and causing traffic accidents, but they did not need someone in a miniskirt trying to do police work.

He’d seen far too many people like her trying to play hero, and it always ended poorly. So, after giving an order or two of his own to the police trying to control the traffic, he turned and ran for her.

Excuse me, miss! This is official police business, I’m going to have to ask you to leave the area!"

Catching Up With Fate

kuroba-k:

The emotions on Hakuba’s face were impressive. He hadn’t ever seen the detective going through so many. He hadn’t really seen him show much besides annoyance and surprise. But Kaito just let him, having feelings and expressing them was good.
The small voice answering him did show him though that he has clearly pushed the limit. Now it was time to hold back, before he would scare Hakuba away. So his answer was a simple smile. Then he carefully lowered his hands to the scar and started working it, very gentle at first.
“Stop fretting, Hakuba-san, close your eyes if you want to. You can worry again later.” He kept working gently, leaving out the most intense techniques and watching his patient’s face, so he could immediately lighten his touch again if he saw so much as a twitch. Then he kept his mouth shut for a few minutes and continued working calmly. About five minutes later he opened the bottle and put a few drops onto his fingertips and finally started stroking it into the skin, really just stroking now.

“You know… you said that you’ll be moving back to Ekoda…” He gave a loopsided grin and looked almost a little embarassed. “I still live there, too. And I’ve got a car. I suppose if you ever need some help with boxes or anything. I could offer.” He was aware of the fact that not many citizen of Tokyo owned a vehicle, especially not those living close to the centre. “Just let me know.” Then he got up and wahsed his hands, before he took Hakubas trousers to put them into his hands. “You can get dressed again and if there are any questions, fire away.”

Hakuba did close his eyes when it was offered, and tried, desperately, to not let his thoughts get the best of him. His leg hurt, he was tired and embarrassed, and stressed beyond belief. But Kaito did seem to recognize all of this, and his touch was, admittedly very soothing. Gradually, he did relax, so by the time he left to wash his hands, the detective was a little surprised that it was over.

Even moreso that he’d just been offered help.

Flushed, Hakuba took his trousers back and nodded, carefully scooting to the edge of the table so that he could, indeed, get dressed again. “Thank you,” he said at first, voice quiet, sort of somber. Not depressed, really, but just not sure what to say. “If you’re really willing to help, that would be… well, that would be a great relief, really. I’m planning on hiring some movers, but I won’t be able to supervise them and Akira-kun very well."

What followed was a long and weary sigh. "Is it even a good idea to move back in with my father? God, I hated it there… but then there’d be enough room… people to look after him…"
