holmesotakushizune:

“no wonder” she chuckled.

She raised an eyebrow at the smirk he showed and realized she didn’t put on the seat belt until he mentioned. “oh yea” Shizune did as told and something was telling her that well…something was gonna happen.

Fortunately, that something was likely a smooth, trouble-free ride to the Hakuba Estate. Hakuba was a good driver, even though he… pushed the speed limit here and there. Just a tad. Or a lot. Either way, he made small chat along the way, elbow out the window, hand casually on the wheel.

“So I suppose we’ve never had you over… unfortunate, really. My father loves entertaining guests when he has the chance… but no one will be there today except for Baaya.”

He shrugged.

“It’ll be nice to have company. And the pie is very quick and easy…”

holmesotakushizune:

She took a moment to admire the car before reacting to him opening the door. “ah, thanks”

She got in the car and gently put the bag she’s holding at the back seat. “real nice car you have, Hakuba” she complimented.

“Thank you, Kudo-san.” Hakuba closed her door, mindful of her legs, and then stepped over to set his own bags in the back seat. “I rather like it. Nice and fast, sporty thing."

He jogged around to the other side and let himself in, fastening his seat belt before looking back to the girl, smirking as he turned the key to the ignition. "Buckle up, if you please~”

holmesotakushizune:

“okay” she carried one of the lighter bags so Hakuba wont have to bring everything by himself.

Hakuba’s house, huh? What kind of place will it be? She got a little excited at the thought of going there.

“wait, are you driving?”

image

“Yes; my car is just over…”  Hakuba gestured with a nod toward the red convertible parked conveniently close by. “We can just drop the groceries in the back seat. Ah, here, let me get the door for you…”

It was an easy enough maneuver to shift the weight of the bags into one hand to open up the passenger side door for her.

holmesotakushizune:

She grinned and followed him picking the ingredients. There were times she couldn’t help but stare at the items she never seen before in her life. That’s what happens when you never step into the kitchen.

“eh?” Okay. That question caught her off-guard. Her’s or Hakuba’s? Normally she’d go for the first choice but seeing that she didn’t have the chance to…clean some stuff, should she go for the latter? But going to Hakuba’s is a first, was it?…. Oh, who cares. There’s a first for everything.

“yours might be more convenient”

“All right! We can take my car."

Gasp. Bringing Kudo-san to his home? It was exciting! He only hoped that Baaya wouldn’t mind too terribly… or at least wouldn’t try to embarrass him in front of his colleague. But she was kind, right? Of course she was. Whew. Nothing to worry about. He prayed.

Hakuba paid for the groceries with a swipe of his card, nodded his thanks to the cashier, and carried the bags out, glancing to Shizune after.

"I’m parked just right around the corner~”

holmesotakushizune:

While walking to their destination, she took glances at Hakuba whose attention was on his smartphone. Maybe she should do something for him as a thank you. She did kinda disturbed him with her request (and there was the maid uniform case too).

She grabbed a basket and hurriedly went beside the other who was reciting the ingredients. “hm..I really don’t know about the details of the texture of the pie so I’ll go with what you think is best”

image

“That’s fair enough!”

Really, how could Hakuba complain about someone deferring to his judgment for once? And Kudo-san, of all people! Pleased as could be, he slipped his phone back into his pocket and went along the aisles, picking out the aforementioned ingredients. Since there weren’t many, it didn’t take long, and soon he was leading them toward the checkout line.

“Now, shall we return to your home to bake, or should we go back to mine?”

holmesotakushizune:

“thanks Hakuba!~” she happily headed with him to the grocery.

Hakuba wore a chipper smile as they walked to the nearest grocer, and though he wanted to hold her hand (the one closest to her was made available for the duration), his concentration was, admittedly, fixated on his smart phone to pull up the recipe list. Although he thought he could remember it all fairly well, he didn’t want to mess anything up.

Not for Kudo-san, certainly.

“Aha, here we are… let’s see, a basket… We’ll make the easy one to start. So, we’ll need a 9” graham cracker crust, 16oz of cream cheese, a 14oz can of sweetened, condensed milk, bottle of lemon juice, and a lemon for the zest…“  Hakuba glanced at her, grinning. "How tart do you like your lemon pie?”

holmesotakushizune:

She nods. “lemon pie.” Her grip on his hands tightened and she looked at him with eyes that looked like a child who wants his mother to buy a toy for him.

“Lemon pie, hmm…” He considered for a moment, then paused, broad smile slipping into place.

“Ah! I know just the recipe. Ice box lemon pie. It’s fairly simple and can be done by scratch or with pre-assembled ingredients. Here, come with me to the grocery store; I’ll help you pick out everything that we’ll need.”

holmesotakushizune:

she held both of his hands and raised them up, bringing her face closer in the process. “teach me.”

image

“Te-teach you? To cook?” He sucked in a breath, blinked twice, then let out the tiniest puff of air. His gaze went to their hands, then to her face. “Ah. Well… I suppose I could… I could try. Is there a dish in particular that you’d like to learn?"
