“Oh, is that so~? Well then, I’ll just have to go take a look."
Honestly, though, he was fairly certain that he knew exactly what was waiting for him.

“Ah! I’ve been meaning to watch this. Can you believe that I haven’t seen a single episode of it yet? These cases lately have been murder!” He laughed.
Then laughed some more.
When he was finally done, he coughed and took the gifts with a grateful nod. “Thank you, Akira-kun. I’ll make sure to treat next time we go — after shopping tomorrow afternoon, right~?”
“Thank you very much! I have enjoyed observing you thus far; we ought to have tea some time. Or coffee?”
“That’s— perfectly fine. I don’t make it a point of really announcing it or anything. Thank you for your kind words, regardless. They are appreciated.”
“Thank you, Kaitou-san…” He took the flower, looked it over for a brief moment, then stepped closer to return the gift with a kiss.
“Ah, thank you, Takagi-keiji! It was very sweet of you to remember.”
“Ah, Hattori-san! Very good. You definitely get bonus points for mentioning that you can’t cook. Your willingness to not kill me is very sweet and appreciated. I’m curious to see what you would do once the food arrived… or if I fell unconscious? Perhaps if I had fever dreams? It would be interesting to play out and find out. Such a scene might play out as thus:
—
Hakuba shuddered, half-closed eyes only barely making sense of what he saw through the haze. He thought that he’d heard Hattori Heiji’s voice, but he couldn’t be sure. Nothing made sense in his head, which throbbed with pain of that heated fever. Coherent thoughts slipped in snatches, just out of reach. All that he could see for sure was the fire and the hot ash in the fireplace. He swallowed hard against the lump in his throat, fingers curling in a white-knuckled grip against the couch. “Nnn…” he managed, voice hoarse. “No..”
—
"Ta da! All right. For your final score I will give you a 6/10. Mostly because you’re Hattori-san and I’m not entirely convinced that you would coddle me so much as demand that I just "get better” — but you’re welcome to prove me wrong.“
“It’s, ah, a little bit strange… but I have seen MUCH stranger things while here on tumblr. She’s mostly been perching on my shoulder and trying to nest in my hair, which is also very odd, but… not so bad. Watson is unhappy, however."
"As for birthday wishes, of course!”
Thank you so much! <3
“Hey, you can’t use an M!A on the mun, birthday or not!”
“Well… what the heck. At least I’m a cute little bird. HEY HAKUBA! Take me hunting!”
“You’re far too small for that. You’re the sort of bird that Watson would prey on.”
"Hey, I’m uber cute. No one would hunt me!”
‘Would you like to bet on that, little one?’
“HAKUBA OMFG HIDE ME!”
“All right, all right; just calm down…”
