“P-pardon?”
“P-pardon?”
“Siri, I don’t have time for your nonsense tonight. I’ve several pages of documentation to get through for the trial on Monday and—”
“Oh. You’re not Siri, are you?”

It’s early in the morning and you wake up to a strange pecking sound on your window. After adjusting to the glare of the sun you realize that is it a white dove that has perched itself on your windowsill. Curious, you open the window and upon closer inspection you find a large post card […]
“It is fine. I thought you hated me for the longest time as well. Between the bickering and the attempts to get me to confess about being KID…” He grinned impishly, though he was still close to Hakuba.
The blush was adorable, if he were being honest. Not that he’d say that to Hakuba. Though it’d make him blush more, KID didn’t want to overdo it. He’d been through quite a bit already tonight and flustering him even more would be rude and unwise.
“Maybe you should listen to your presumptions.”
That… That was not at all how Hakuba had expected Kaito to react. Startled, he turned to the thief again, eyes wide and uncharacteristically honest. Vulnerable. He didn’t dare smile because he didn’t understand. What had he meant by that?
The end result was a red-faced anxious detective, stunned to silence with confusion, concern, hope, despair, and fear written all over him at once. It was not a side that he showed to anyone, really. Not at all the calm, cold, and collected front that he usually presented.
He gulped, swallowing hard, hanging on every word, afraid that if he said anything, he’d destroy everything.
But oh, how he wanted to kiss him again.
