Coffee Break || officertakagi

officertakagi:

“You know, I hadn’t really thought about that. If we brought back enough for the whole office we’d need about twelve cups of coffee and I only have enough for two.” he said a little embarrassed.

“Ah, that’s quite all right, Takagi-keiji. I’ll take care of that; it’ll be our treat. But you will need to help me carry it all. I wonder if they’d be willing to give us a box large enough to fit two or more of those cardboard carriers?"

Hakuba hummed as he thought about that, hands in his pocket as they made their way to the cafe.

"Those normally have enough spaces to carry four cups each. Four, eight, twelve, sixteen… You said that we needed twelve for the office at least, yes? Three or four would be sufficient, then. Either way, I’ll ask when we arrive. I’m certain that they’re used to office coffee runs, and if they are at all worth their expensive-looking logo, they will be able to adequately handle our request. Not to worry!"

“Okay.” Takagi said watching him put things away. The office reminded him a bit of Mouri-san’s office though Hakuba’s looked a lot more organized. He returned the smile as Hakuba finished. “Alright.” The detective replied following him out.

The air outside was cool and pleasant. Refreshing from the recent rain storms. Takagi glanced up at the sky and smiled. “It’s beautiful day out today.”

“Ah, that it is! It almost reminds me of home, in fact. The best days in London are under grey skies and the cover of fog, you know.” Hakuba’s return smile was only barely tainted by a twinge of homesickness, which he covered with a wink.

“So how much coffee do we need to bring back, exactly? Enough for the whole homicide division, or just for you and myself?”
