Celebrations Over Poisonous Drinks (for Angst Week)//@whiteknighthakuba

Takagi smiled, taking up the cup, “Thank you.” He raised it up to Jenma’s with Chiba following suit. Both gently touched their cups to the older officer’s, so not to spill their drinks, making a soft clink as they did so. Bringing up the cup to his mouth he took a sip. It had a slight bitterness to it. It may have just been the brand of sake or that he didn’t drink it often. It was still very good.

“Mm~” Takagi took another sip before setting the cup down. “How has your family been Jenma-san?” he asked. Chiba leaned forward a bit after taking a drink of his water, curious as well.

“Oh, they’ve been fine, fine,” Jenma said, lifting the cup of sake to his mouth afterward for a well-deserved drink. “My daughter-in-law is expecting… we’ll get to know the gender in the next week or so. I hope that it’s another boy. It’s always good to have more strong men in the family, ha ha!”

Hakuba watched the older man as he spoke, disguising the bored disappointment that he had begun to feel behind a tired smile. He took another sip, then cleared his throat. “Your daughter-in-law… is she the one that’s married to, ah, Jun?”

“Yep, that’s the one! Three sons so far, they tell me they’re hoping for at least two more, and then they can start on daughters.” He poured more sake for himself, then looked to Takagi, inclining his head.

officertakagi:

Takagi gave a small sigh when Hakuba told them he was joking. You would think he’d consider what would happen joking around about under aged drinking in front of three cops… A small smile came back to his face. At least the teen corrected himself.

Chiba shook his head and let out a small chuckle. “No, it’s fine Hakuba-kun. I’ll take care of the driving. Nice try though.” he replied smiling.

Back by the bar where the waitress was preparing their drinks, someone diverted her attention. They were complaining about not getting a refill on their bourbon yet. The waitress nodded and took their glass to get them some more to drink.

Seeing that the order she had currently been working on was for the new comers into the bar, a grim smile spread across the person’s face. It was a table full of cops. The perfect target to strike. With as little of suspicion as possible the person took a vial from the inner pocket of their coat. Once the cap was off, they poured the small amount into the sake bottle.

The vial was returned to the pocket and the person resumed their normal posture again, looking as if nothing had happened in the time the the waitress was absent from the drinks.

The waitress returned to the customer, setting down the glass of bourbon. She was thanked then turned back to the order she was working on. Grabbing the glass of water and Arnold Palmer finished off the tray. She picked up the tray and took it back to the waiting officers.

“Okay, boys. Here’s your water, and your Arnold Palmer.” she said giving the drinks to Chiba and Hakuba respectively. “And your sake.” She added setting down the bottle between Jenma and Takagi and a cup in front of each.

“Thank you, Miss…?” Takagi said.

“Saiya.” She replied.

Takagi smiled a little. “Thank you, Miss Saiya.”

“Well enjoy your drinks~” Saiya said before leaving the group’s table.

“One day, boys, I’ll be required to drive one of those cars and I’ll add racing stripes." Hakuba lifted his drink, swirling the ice inside with a movement that was more fitting a hard liquor on ice, but it would do. He glanced to his ‘colleagues’ and smiled, pleased once more that he’d not only been invited on the case, but to celebrate with them afterward. It was proof that he belonged with them, right? Definitely. Accepted and appreciated. He took a sip, then leaned back, relaxing.

Jenma, shaking his head at the naive and junior detective, opened the bottle and poured himself and Takagi a drink. "Nice and warm,” he said, grinning. The perfect end to a perfect day.“ He lifted the cup, offering to do cheers with Takagi, since the whelp had already started drinking without them. He glanced to Chiba, too, subtle communication to see if he wanted in on it. "Good job, officers.”
