13. Do you write fiction ever other than rping?

I DO. I write novels, mostly. YA and MG. My goal is to be a published author/illustrator — some day.

14. Do you like fanfiction more or less than reading rp threads between characters?

I don’t read fanfiction as a general rule. I would MUCH rather be writing, collaboratively or by myself. Most fanfics just make me mad… I’m so very, very picky when it comes to characterization, and find that I have a much higher tolerance for it in RP. Plus then I have some control! 😀

17. What’s something you dislike about rping a canon character?

LOL I hate it when people tell me that my interpretation is “wrong.” It’s just one interpretation. No one has to read my blog(s). I remember once someone sent in this rant about how I’d answered a question as Conan, saying that it was totally wrong because of x, y, z. And I was so confused because it’s like… … … okay, but… this is just my Conan?

And yes, I realize this is kind of hypocritical given my stance on most fanfics, but hey I’m not forcing anyone to read my stuff, and I avoid fanfics so that I don’t get angry! 🙂

…also I hate being scared whenever new source material comes out. Like “Oh no what’s going to ruin my interpretation so far?”

Fortunately, things with Hakuba have just gotten better since I started… but as for Conan… I’m having a harder and harder time justifying his actions ICly, and having to take the blame for that kind of sucks.

22. Do you like lots of headcanons or few?

SO MANY. TOO MANY. ALL OF THE HEADCANONS. Every character I write for inevitably gets huge walls of headcanon scrolls. The more I write, the more wallspace they fill. It’s crazy. Hakuba has so many…

What’s your favourite and least favourite season, and why? (Nature wise)

“I like spring the most because… well, the it rains, there are flowers everywhere, baby animals… and I’m admittedly a fan of sakura blossoms. Summer is good for camping, and autumn means the hunting trip with my uncles…

"This leaves winter as my least favorite, though it’s honestly not so bad as long as you bundle up. It’s the best excuse to wear lots and lots of layers, though it does tend to leave my nose, ears, and cheeks rosy throughout the season, which is annoying.”

♤ :  Cooking headcanon

I’m of the opinion that Hakuba is a constant learner, who picks up skills and perfects them to a reasonable level just for the sake of learning (and to keep himself very, very busy). As such, it’s my headcanon that when he was 12 or 13, he begged his mother to put him in all sorts of classes after school/during the summer, one of which was cooking.

He did learn, both in group classes and from a private tutor, including a summer camp in Paris, how to cook all sorts of things. His favorite (and the thing he’s best at) is to bake, though, and it’s a secret pleasure to create beautiful cupcakes from scratch, particularly if he gets to decorate them all fancy and elegant.

In fact, he and Baaya will often bake together on those odd days where everything falls apart, and suddenly neither has anything to do, or the Superintendent General just isn’t home for dinner yet again…

Hakuba and I (yes I am well aware that I sound insane when I talk like this) did a google search to come up with some examples of the kind of thing he enjoys doing:

…no, he does not advertise this fact, but always gets excellent grades in home ec. He also doesn’t get to cook all THAT often since both the home in Ekoda and in London employ a private chef, both of whom are protective of their kitchens.

tick tock

Send “Tick Tock” for a random thought without context that my character has during a day.

“Why is it so windy today? Why are their skirts so short? God there has to be some kind of regulation about that for this exact reason.”

In another life

Send “In Another Life” and I’ll tell you a fact about an AU version of my character.

In the His Dark Materials (Golden Compass) AU, Hakuba’s daemon is a female cheetah named Marie. She’s gorgeous, polite, and very shy, opting for silence in almost any situation.

Also, despite the Ministry’s work with daemon collars (this takes place long after the book series, so there are other crazy experiments afoot), Marie has a certain fondness for fancy collars, which Hakuba spoils her with often. Her favorites are the very broad kind that one might typically see on a sighthound.
