“Ah.”
“Then it’s good, that I’m his friend- well, I hope he thinks of me as a friend.”
"Oh, I should think so… he certainly talks about you often enough!”
“Ah.”
“Then it’s good, that I’m his friend- well, I hope he thinks of me as a friend.”
"Oh, I should think so… he certainly talks about you often enough!”
“When he was little, he usually played out in the garden or the woods behind the property. Baaya would go with him half of the time, but he did wander off quite often on his own. As far as friends go… no, he didn’t really have many. It was always difficult for him; he’s so shy, you know, and we always lived so far away from his classmates…
"But he did have his dogs to play with, and Baaya played cards, and I taught him how to play piano, so I don’t think he was really lacking in company. Besides, he had so many books to read, things to photograph, and toy dragons to train.
"He’s a friendly sort, it just takes a while to get him out of his shell.”
“That’s all right, my darling! Just ask anything that comes to mind. I’ll start you off with an interesting bit of trivia about my son. When he was younger, he used to think that he could catch the Easter bunny if he got up early enough and waited out in the garden with a big net. Isn’t that precious~?”
{Ha, cut Heiji out of that title page.}
>:))))) I’m glad you noticed
Kaito couldn’t believe it. Hakuba Saguru, the famous high school detective, hadn’t realized that he had picked the table with a sprig of mistletoe hanging above it for Christmas. Well, Kaito himself hadn’t noticed it until he just happened to glance up, but didn’t detectives notice everything? He dismissed the possibility that the other had chosen it on purpose.
“Hey, Hakuba,” he said, leaning across the table and wiggling his fingers over the menu the detective was studying. When it was lowered, Kaito grinned, stretching further to kiss his companion.
“Mistletoe,” he explained, pointing at the plant.
Whether Hakuba had chosen the spot on purpose or not was difficult to tell. Had he known, which he might have, about the plant’s position, he certainly hadn’t expected Kaito to do anything about it. After all, Mistletoe was more of a thing from western culture, wasn’t it? And yet…
The detective blushed scarlet, and glanced up at the ‘offending’ plant with wide eyes, glancing back to his classmate after. What was he supposed to do now?! He hadn’t planned that far ahead.
“A-ah… so… so it is.” Hakuba looked back down at the menu and gulped, then laughed. If he wasn’t careful, he would give himself entirely away. “I didn’t realize that you were so well-versed in Christmas tradition, Kuroba-kun. I’m impressed.”
Nice save.
…Maybe.
{‘the living room?’}
I believe she’s referring to the television in the living room… since the Koushien was supposedly going to be recorded for a television broadcast, that would have made it known that Hakuba was the rep for the East in livingrooms across Japan.
Alas.
I don’t think that’s enough calories for someone your size.
“W-well, the day isn’t over yet. I’m 5’11” and 143lbs, which puts my BMI at 19.9, which is considered ‘normal.’ I’d have to be at 18.5 to be ‘underweight,’ so let me alone!“
((Please note that he’s not finished growing get… and even if he were, he could gain 34 pounds and STILL be considered ‘normal’ weight. I’m going to guess that he’ll be 6’2”-6-3" by the time he’s done… and if he doesn’t change his habits, he’s going to be REALLY underweight…))
Oh, really? What have you eaten today?
“Three cups of tea, a scone, an apple, some carrot sticks, half of a turkey sandwich – with swiss… mmm~”
o_o Please eat, tantei-san. You won’t be able to catch me if you don’t have any energy!
“I eat perfectly well, thank you… and tea is all that I need to be able to catch you, anyway.”
Dammit, keibu! KID growled. He wanted answers, but the inspector wouldn’t give him any! There has to be some way…
Ah! Perfect! He coughed, changing his voice as he dialed again. The voice would be good- he just hoped everything else would fit.
“Nakamori, this is Superintendent Hakuba. I’ve been trying to contact my son, but I can’t reach him. Do you know where he is?”
The inspector was much more cordial and startled upon hearing that voice. Oh shit. The Superintendent General! “We’re trying to find him right now, sir, don’t worry… we have cleanup and rescue crews combing the building, but we think he might be under the debris…"
It wasn’t good news at all, but at least Nakamori was being up front about it.
"There’s a good chance that he’s managed to get out and we just haven’t seen him, but we’re doing everything that we can to comb through. We’re working on the south end of the building right now, sir, and we’ll give you updates the moment we have them."
As the crews worked, the concrete shifted. Metal rebars bent and moaned under the stress of being moved with so much weight on top of them.
Hakuba was dimly aware that he was in danger and that it was difficult to breathe, but he could not muster the strength to do anything about it. Nothing at all…
…so dark…
