For the Love of a Painting || kaitouxjeanne

Letting him lead her, she vaguely wondered if she was getting led into a trap. For such a sharp detective, he was certainly letting his attention wander. Granted, to her, but from her observations of him, he seemed much too dedicated to the job for distractions. His senses didn’t seem too dull, especially when it came to her. Maybe that’s just how he wants it. Oh bother.

The thief mentally shook her head at herself. This was no time to be hypersensitive. She had her move planned out and there was no room for doubt at this point. Trap or suspicion, Jeanne would have to move forward.

Speaking of moving forward.. her attention was caught by the confident smile of one of her more handsome suitors that was directed at her. The wealthy heir of a hotel chain, he certainly looked it in his designer suit. With his looks and wallet, women flocked to him. The blonde was not one of them but she had caught the attention of the playboy all the same. He had loads of pride and with that look he was giving her, it wouldn’t be hard to convince him to help her — without his knowing, of course. A strong candidate to be her cover.

Jeanne gave the heir a demure smile back before turning to answer Hakuba. She wondered if he’d noticed, as she noted his scanning of the crowd before. I wonder if it’d bother him. Not that I care..

The same smile on her face still, she replied,“Though I do love a good wine, champagne will do nicely for now. And what is your poison of choice, detective?”

Besides your choice of company tonight, that is.

“Scotch, actually,” Hakuba answered the question with honesty, offering the champagne to her before taking one for himself. “Not as fitting for a party, I suppose, but I’ve acquired quite a taste for it…”

Speaking of taste, the detective then directed his gaze to the man that Jeanne had wondered about moments before, arcing a brow in amusement. “Mm, is he someone that you’re interested in?” he asked, turning his gaze back to the young woman on his arm. Yes, he had noticed, but if it bothered him, he didn’t let it show. “He’s quite a good host in the right situations…”

Yes, Hakuba had encountered that particular socialite before. And he was as egotistical and easily played as could be expected. The detective knew this quite well.

I could introduce you to him, if you’d like.” A faint, teasing smirk. How would she take this play?

Incidentally… (OOC)

I was reading over my theme pages again (feeling like I need to revamp already) and stumbled upon this gem on my “Start a Scene” page:

Please note that while violence/blood/etc are to be expected, overt sexual content is discouraged.”

OH IS THAT SO, HAKUBA

IS THAT SO

((PS. While I do love that Hakuba flirts shamelessly with most anyone and tends to make fairly inappropriate commentary from time to time, I do hope that I can maintain some sort of class in the midst of it…  It’s supposed to be funny, not trashy, and only one small aspect of his character. Let me know if I ever cross the line, please, because this is supposed to be a more-or-less SFW blog. Ahaha.

…so yes, relations can and do happen. But that’s not the point and never will be. Goodness, though, Hakuba… you make my job difficult.))

(ROMANTIC DRAMEDY NOT PORN)

Smirking down at Hakuba, he did not miss the slight breathlessness of the detective and the sight of his slightly bruised lips gave him a thrill of satisfaction. Even as he watched Hakuba with half-lidded eyes, Kaito was not sure why was he doing this with the detective… other than the fact that it was proving to be rather interesting and… delicious, there was not even a reason for the other man to play along.

“Oh? For the future? Already having plans for me, Hakuba-san?”
Kaito grinned at the amused detective, dragging out his name slowly with a rasp.

"As for my presence… You’re the detective, aren’t you, my dear Hakuba? It’s your job to find out…”

Clearly having Hakuba beneath him and trying to catch his breath was doing things to his mind, because all he could think about was another taste of the man’s lips. Shifting his weight onto one hand beside the detective’s head, he smirked playfully as he reached out to cup his face and brushed a thumb over his lips.

“Still going on about that, eh? As I’ve said a million times, I’m not… but why don’t we leave business for another day… and show me how you like to be kissed…

His own name, spoken that way, with that voice, had a similar effect on the detective, though no magic was needed. Hakuba remained still, gaze shifting look at that hand, lips parting when touched to exhale. This was not how he’d imagined a scenario such as this playing out, precisely, but it hardly seemed to matter. For all he knew, it was nothing more than a dream for another empty night.

Yet, here they were. The one that Hakuba had long observed, long desired, and the detective. The realization of this struck him somewhat abruptly, bringing a spring of tinted color to his pale English complexion. This was Kuroba Kaito. It hardly felt real. It…

"Show you…” Hakuba repeated, buying himself time to regain his composure, embarrassed by his own sudden sheepishness. He could honor that request, just as he had the first one.

Arms that had lain tensely and purposefully still at his side lifted to snake around Kaito’s back, one hand moving to his shoulder blade, the other to the back of his head, fingers digging through that wild hair, pulling him down, close to kiss him again. As before, it was more gentle than the wild passion, but it was heated. Controlled. Significant. He wasn’t sure how Kaito felt about any of this, if it meant anything at all… but it did for him, which is what he attempted to convey. Eyes closed, head pressed against his pillows as he massaged those lips with the restraint of a master artisan; reserved, deliberate, and… teasing.

People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave. A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life…

“He’s a bit broader an’ I’m a bit taller. So some’a them might be a bit loose.”

I’m sure we can find something that fits

Because of all that Kendo you do, I’m sure there has to be at least one thing that fits

and you’re only taller by 2cm, it’s not much

“Doesn’t matter. Come over. Try them all on, anyway.”

hannah-shikari:

“Still don’t really care fer suits. But if ya want, I guess.”

Heiji you are the nicest and the best ever

But at least it’s not, you know, the full thing?

I mean, seeing you wearing a button-up and nice pants is more than enough

Compared to the usual clothes you wear

Change of pace is good

Let’s borrow some from Hakuba now

You guys fit each other’s sizes..I think /shot

“…despite my better judgment I will say yes to that. Yes. Very yes. Hattori-san, come over and try on everything in my closet. Right now.”
