The Beatles! (ooc)

((Hakuba and I are listening to the Beatles this afternoon… you guys should, too! And then tell us what your favorite Beatles song is. And we can all just dance party sing forever.

For the record, my favorite song is ‘Help!’ and I think Hakuba’s is… ‘And Your Bird Can Sing’ (but it changes all the time) – ahaha.))

((Ps. Update: Hakuba now says his favorite is ‘Norwegian Wood’ and also ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and annnd ‘Hey Jude’ and ALSO ‘The Night Before’ — I’m calling foul. I don’t think he knows which is his favorite at all! Having all of the Beatles on shuffle may have been a bad (or the best?) idea…))

Surprise did not being to even cover what Kaito felt. At first, he was only curious to see what Camie would do when she began to approach them, following her movements with his eyes. Mild curiosity immediately changed to full-blown surprise and astonishment when she reached up to kiss the detective that was still more or less in his arms.

His poker face faltered as he stared blankly at the scene almost directly in front of him, never imagining that she would be so unpredictable even for a tease like himself. Shaking his head, he even felt sympathy for the poor detective who was clearly, obviously, overwhelmed by the unexpected turn of events.

Turning his gaze to the compulsive trickster beside him, he decided that a little punishment was due, on behalf of the embarrassed detective. Looping an arm around her waist firmly, he pulled her in and caged her in his arms before leaning in to whisper into her ear.

“That was very brave of you, wasn’t it? Would you like to try again with me? I’m more than willing, unlike our poor Hakuba-san.”

“Ah, y-yes, I’ll let… let you handle this, Kaitou-san, thank you…. ah, I’m going to go get some tea, now… I’ll… catch up with you both later.”

With Camie in Kaitou’s arms and his own self free, the detective slipped away and into hiding. Presumably to put the kettle on (which was actually the truth).

Tea fixes everything, right? Something like that.

*…He was looking at her oddly, and Kyouko wanted to smack the smile off his face. But that would be childish – they were not in a stressful situation, and he wasn’t openly offending her or being rude. So she just gave the male detective an unamused look before speaking.*

According to plan, huh…? Well, unfortunately I have a history for encountering cases that haven’t gone according to plan. So I hope that big detective brain of yours has plotted something with little room for error.

*She got in the car without looking at him further; crossing her legs and sitting motionless in the seat as she stared straight ahead out the window.*

Once Kyouko was safely in the car, Hakuba closed the door and went around to the other side to let himself in. He was overzealous and excited, which often got the sort of quasi-cold response from colleagues and associates, which the detective was used to. He  buckled his seat belt, smirk never quite leaving his face, and then glanced at her.

“Please fasten your seatbelt, if you don’t mind…” Hakuba said at first, adjusting his rear view and side mirror briefly, reaching down to turn the key and engine next. “I’ll give you a brief overview of the case on the way…”

He went over the details in his head wile he waited for some kind of a positive response; an indicator that he should continue. There were a lot of details, some of which were completely unnecessary for someone not working on the actual paperwork for it. How much would she need to know? Enough to keep her from getting killed, certainly. Hm
