“Indeed we are.” Subaru set down his bowl and took his glass of scotch. “Let me put it like this. There is something painfully obvious hidden in plain sight in this room. If you figure it out, I’ll explain at least some of what I know.”

He took a sip of the scotch. Now this was Subaru being a prat, if he were to be honest. It was a test of basic observation, whether or not you could tell if the guy in front of you wore a wig (which tended to have a slightly unnatural sheen to the strands of hair) or whose glasses were not functional (because there were no distortions in the slightest when looking through them).

There was a pause as Hakuba tilted his head, brows knitting over a sort of silly grin, then he laughed. “Well, I wasn’t going to point it out on the bases of professional courtesy, but if you’d like to go there, certainly. You’re clearly not an engineer, Subaru-san. More like Holmes pretending to be one. Easily passable for most, but…” The detective sighed and shook his head, taking his glass of scotch to sip before continuing.

“You’re far too easy to talk to. Your ability to multi-task while conversing is exceptional- definitely not enough tunnel vision. And,” he took that moment to take a taste of the stew, mulling it over for a moment before laughing again. “You’re far too good a cook. Not to mention… well.” The wig, the glasses, the ticks associated with the former. But, now that an amount of faith had been extended, Hakuba felt comfortable giving some in return.

“My guesses were going to be the missing East Wind and Kaitou Kid but… I really don’t know what your focus is, precisely. For all I know, it could be one of the many serial killer assassins that I’ve been tracking – though most of them are not so noble… Certainly not to be compared to Holmes."

“I’m flexible, as long as it isn’t milk or some of the watered-down beers I’ve had the misfortune of tasting.” Subaru took a mouthful of stew. The car ride didn’t do anything serious to the taste, with that span of time of lack of constant heat, luckily.

“Oh, same old, same old. Going to class. Working on papers. Wondering when on earth you and another solve a little enigma.” And omitting how he’s been watching the neighborhood for any possible signs of Black Organization action. “Anyway, there are many types of organized crime. Drug rings tend to be less sophisticated and easier to tackle in some regards.”

To the wet bar Hakuba went, reaching into the small fridge underneath to retrieve sealed and chilled bottles of water, two glasses, ice, and the bottle of scotch from the cupboard. “Yes, yes on the drug rings, and, ah… hm.”

The detective sighed, setting the assorted items on a tray, then carried it back to the table. “The little enigma, hm? It’s a tricky one, I’ll give you that… mostly from the overwhelming list of possibilities. Who has a potentially deadly secret to hide? Who’s in disguise as they go to face their death?”

He opened the bottle of scotch and poured one for Okiya, then for himself, then got himself a bowl of the stew.

“And where, I wonder, does our information line up enough that it’s safe for me to share? I know you can’t disclose yours, and I don’t feel comfortable disclosing mine… though, at least this room is safe to discuss things in. Complicated impasse. What to do?”

“Funny, I thought you wanted me to be your senpai or sensei? It seems rather rude if I let you skip about without attempting to correct you when you’re wrong.”

“Oh, I do, Subaru-san, I do. And that is quite right; I was just a little bit embarrassed, you see, and trying to make light of the subject. That’s all. You are, of course, correct, and I’ll do well to remember it in the future.”

The Winged Detective [ Open RP//M!A:Wings ]

edogawa-conankun:

He blinked during some seconds , doesn’t seemed understand what was happening to him , bare chested in the middle of the agency , two wings on his back .

Before finally realized what was happening , he had two wings , and even if it was astonish and awkward to trust . That was the true . And he just can’t do anything about it . Just wonderring how and why that was happened .

He started to stress , what if Ran or Kogoro see him like that ?!

“ Agasa-kun ! ” he telled to himself . Knowing than it was probably the people who’ll can help him in this case .

But , how to go untill his house without go on the street and show his wings to everyone ? …

He quickly looked at the clock of the agency , the time was spending and Ran’ll come back to the agency , then comed the fatal moment when he hearded her step in the stair .

He started to be agited , quickly looking around him , trying to use his wings but doesn’t succeeded and just make roll his shoulder . He seeing the umber of Ran’s on the door , trying a last time to fly , before suddenly going in the air and passed through the window .

Doesn’t succeeded to stop himself , he continued to fly right in front of him , before opening his eyes and realized than he was in front of Tokyo’s building and suddenly panicked before dropping in peak in ground’s direction . By luck , he succeed to straighten out just before violently crashed , but still making a nice falling .

“ Itetetete … ” he whisperred to himself , scratching behind his head while rose .

Then , he raised his head and noticed a familar people , not far of him , looking at him with a kind of wonderring look .

Before trying to hide his wings , hiding it by a little stressed laugh , his wings moving a bit , but was too much tall for can be hiding by himself .

Blink blink. Hakuba Saguru, the half-brit detective tilted his head, observing the boy for a moment before a wide grin spread on his face.  “Edogawa-kun? It’s been months since I last saw you. How’ve you been?”

Apparently, he’d missed the flying and the crash, but the sound had alerted him to Conan’s arrival at least.

Hands in his pockets, Hakuba pulled himself away from the newspaper stand to approach Conan, pleasant and chipper as he usually was in good company. The wings garnered a curious brow raise from the teenager, but he didn’t say anything for the moment. With Conan’s involvement with Agasa Hakase, it wouldn’t surprise Hakuba one bit if they turned out to be some crazy new invention.

Celebrations Over Poisonous Drinks (for Angst Week)//@whiteknighthakuba

officertakagi:

Takagi gave a small sigh when Hakuba told them he was joking. You would think he’d consider what would happen joking around about under aged drinking in front of three cops… A small smile came back to his face. At least the teen corrected himself.

Chiba shook his head and let out a small chuckle. “No, it’s fine Hakuba-kun. I’ll take care of the driving. Nice try though.” he replied smiling.

Back by the bar where the waitress was preparing their drinks, someone diverted her attention. They were complaining about not getting a refill on their bourbon yet. The waitress nodded and took their glass to get them some more to drink.

Seeing that the order she had currently been working on was for the new comers into the bar, a grim smile spread across the person’s face. It was a table full of cops. The perfect target to strike. With as little of suspicion as possible the person took a vial from the inner pocket of their coat. Once the cap was off, they poured the small amount into the sake bottle.

The vial was returned to the pocket and the person resumed their normal posture again, looking as if nothing had happened in the time the the waitress was absent from the drinks.

The waitress returned to the customer, setting down the glass of bourbon. She was thanked then turned back to the order she was working on. Grabbing the glass of water and Arnold Palmer finished off the tray. She picked up the tray and took it back to the waiting officers.

“Okay, boys. Here’s your water, and your Arnold Palmer.” she said giving the drinks to Chiba and Hakuba respectively. “And your sake.” She added setting down the bottle between Jenma and Takagi and a cup in front of each.

“Thank you, Miss…?” Takagi said.

“Saiya.” She replied.

Takagi smiled a little. “Thank you, Miss Saiya.”

“Well enjoy your drinks~” Saiya said before leaving the group’s table.

“One day, boys, I’ll be required to drive one of those cars and I’ll add racing stripes." Hakuba lifted his drink, swirling the ice inside with a movement that was more fitting a hard liquor on ice, but it would do. He glanced to his ‘colleagues’ and smiled, pleased once more that he’d not only been invited on the case, but to celebrate with them afterward. It was proof that he belonged with them, right? Definitely. Accepted and appreciated. He took a sip, then leaned back, relaxing.

Jenma, shaking his head at the naive and junior detective, opened the bottle and poured himself and Takagi a drink. "Nice and warm,” he said, grinning. The perfect end to a perfect day.“ He lifted the cup, offering to do cheers with Takagi, since the whelp had already started drinking without them. He glanced to Chiba, too, subtle communication to see if he wanted in on it. "Good job, officers.”
