A bouquet wrapped in blue and gold, a silver ribbon keeping the flowers from just falling from the decorative paper. Shinori had wanted something a little more… fancy… to give him, but in the end she’d gone with something simple and maybe a little more practical. A frustration she tried to hide as she handed him the wonderful mix of flowers she’d put together herself. Geranium, Violet, Dill, Zinnia, Red and Orange Roses, as well as Tuberose. Such an odd mix.

13. Do you write fiction ever other than rping?

I DO. I write novels, mostly. YA and MG. My goal is to be a published author/illustrator — some day.

14. Do you like fanfiction more or less than reading rp threads between characters?

I don’t read fanfiction as a general rule. I would MUCH rather be writing, collaboratively or by myself. Most fanfics just make me mad… I’m so very, very picky when it comes to characterization, and find that I have a much higher tolerance for it in RP. Plus then I have some control! 😀

17. What’s something you dislike about rping a canon character?

LOL I hate it when people tell me that my interpretation is “wrong.” It’s just one interpretation. No one has to read my blog(s). I remember once someone sent in this rant about how I’d answered a question as Conan, saying that it was totally wrong because of x, y, z. And I was so confused because it’s like… … … okay, but… this is just my Conan? 

And yes, I realize this is kind of hypocritical given my stance on most fanfics, but hey I’m not forcing anyone to read my stuff, and I avoid fanfics so that I don’t get angry! 🙂 

…also I hate being scared whenever new source material comes out. Like “Oh no what’s going to ruin my interpretation so far?” 

Fortunately, things with Hakuba have just gotten better since I started… but as for Conan… I’m having a harder and harder time justifying his actions ICly, and having to take the blame for that kind of sucks. 

22. Do you like lots of headcanons or few?

SO MANY. TOO MANY. ALL OF THE HEADCANONS. Every character I write for inevitably gets huge walls of headcanon scrolls. The more I write, the more wallspace they fill. It’s crazy. Hakuba has so many…

Okay, cue a small frown at the sudden presentation of flowers. Though he felt a vague curiosity himself as to the lack of lavender, but the inclusion of amaranth and mildly at zinnia. The rest he wasn’t too surprised at… well aside from the dill.

“…Thank you for the… unexpected bouquet, detective.”

…Okay, he does have to take out the amaranth and raise a questioning brow.

“…I don’t suppose you’d be willing to explain why these particular choices, hmm?”

“I’m afraid that I’ll have to leave you in the dark, Spider… But I hope you enjoy the mystery.”

2. What drew you to rping this character? (since I did 3 last time)

I liked that he was different from the other Gosho boys on so many different levels, and that we know enough about him to get his voice, but so that I could pick and choose his entire backstory. Such a luxury! I got to decide which elements I wanted to explore within the context of the character and story, choosing things that were deliberately contrasting to the others and… yes. <3 Plus I love that he’s a walking contradiction… one of the good guys who really can be such a jerk. Ahhh! <3 

6. What’s something about your character that you wouldn’t like if you had to spend time with them?

Ugh he would comment on everything that I do because I’m very lazy and sloppy and terrible at being on time. My management skills are crap and I’m kind of REALLY unreliable. Constant criticism. I’d probably whine at him a lot. 

25. What’s your least favorite AU? (since I did 24 last time)

I want to say zombie survival because I have never found a zombie AU that I like, but then Yuki and I were talking about one a couple of weeks ago that seemed okay… but then, we kind of turned it into a mutated radiation alien magical warping thing, and added Wonderland elements, so… uh… 

I wouldn’t enjoy a ‘being trapped in a video game’ AU, though. Probably.

28. What do you like about roleplaying angst? (since I did 27 last time)

Angst, with purpose, can really show so many deeper levels of a character. I put the characters through horrible situations to really show what they’re made of, to give them deeper conflicts, and to see how their core holds up against them. Will they rise above it? How are they going to cope? What will they do to rise above it and fix their problems? How are they going to resolve everything? It’s a fascinating way to get development, let them express and explore the deeper, darker sides of life and themselves, and… well, the violence and emotional turmoil is all pretty much universally relatable for the readers, too. 

30. What do you like about roleplaying fluff?

You need balance in everything, and fluff (especially fluff with purpose, in which case it’s not really fluff anymore IMO) is perfect for breaking up the tension… giving the reader and characters a break, to help establish new and reestablish old status quos from which to continue the story… the lull before the storm… We won’t know how bad things are if we don’t have a baseline to go from. And if you keep tension too tight, it starts to lose meaning and interest.
