Mistletoe

aceofclubs1412:

Kaito couldn’t believe it. Hakuba Saguru, the famous high school detective, hadn’t realized that he had picked the table with a sprig of mistletoe hanging above it for Christmas. Well, Kaito himself hadn’t noticed it until he just happened to glance up, but didn’t detectives notice everything? He dismissed the possibility that the other had chosen it on purpose.

“Hey, Hakuba,” he said, leaning across the table and wiggling his fingers over the menu the detective was studying. When it was lowered, Kaito grinned, stretching further to kiss his companion.

“Mistletoe,” he explained, pointing at the plant.

Whether Hakuba had chosen the spot on purpose or not was difficult to tell. Had he known, which he might have, about the plant’s position, he certainly hadn’t expected Kaito to do anything about it. After all, Mistletoe was more of a thing from western culture, wasn’t it? And yet…

The detective blushed scarlet, and glanced up at the ‘offending’ plant with wide eyes, glancing back to his classmate after. What was he supposed to do now?! He hadn’t planned that far ahead.

“A-ah… so… so it is.” Hakuba looked back down at the menu and gulped, then laughed. If he wasn’t careful, he would give himself entirely away. “I didn’t realize that you were so well-versed in Christmas tradition, Kuroba-kun. I’m impressed.”

Nice save.

…Maybe.

“More than you could experience, you’d crumble.” He says evenly, yanking on his captive wrist and causing the detective to fly forward into his arms. “I don’t know if your body would have handled the stress of living on that god forsaken dead planet. "

He whispers into his ear, doing his damnedest to keep cool even though the other’s blood was staining him and okay so maybe he was getting turned on by this whole ordeal.

Alarmed. That was a good word for it. Hakuba found himself all together far too close to the violent man for his tastes. Perhaps. Two things catch him – first, the talk of another planet (he really was insane, wasn’t he?), second, the breath on his ear. A signal of interest. Hakuba grit his teeth. attempting to pull his thoughts back on track.

He allowed himself to stay close, eyes narrowing at both the body heat of the other and his own blood continuing to spread through the cloth. ”‘Dead planet?’“ Hakuba repeated, voice skeptical. "What are you talking about?”

Sugaru pokes his other self’s, other self’s chest. “Don’t be so mean to Gunter. It’s rude. You don;t even know him.” He puts his hands on his hips. Hmph.

“You’re welcome to stop breaking the 4th wall at any time, by the way… the man is an assassin and I’ve had no interaction with him thus far that would make me any less inclined to treat him like the ruthless criminal that he is. Just because you’ve gotten yourself ridiculously attached, and he tolerates your presence, doesn’t mean that you can use your unhealthy relationship to insult or otherwise berate me.

"In short, leave me alone. I have absolutely no interest or time for you.”
