“It’s all right, though I prefer to be the one that initiates until I’m very comfortable with a person. Handshakes are generally fine, but I’m particularly sensitive to people touching my back when I don’t know them, or worse, when I explicitly distrust them. 

"For those that I have let into my inner circle, though, little physical displays of affection are welcome and appreciated. For example, my mum likes to tug on my arm to get my attention, and Baaya often puts her hand on my shoulder blade. Both like to tug me down to kiss the top of my head, too, and I’m fine with that (except in public because, god, can they be any more embarrassing?). 

"I do not like random people rushing up and hugging me… or kissing me… or grabbing me and yanking me around. I don’t like it when overly zealous people slap me on the back or hit me with their towels in the locker room. I’m not fond of having my cheeks pinched, or any part of me handled without my express permission. It’s awkward and terribly uncomfortable, and sends me into an anxiety-driven panic more quickly than just about anything else.”

"Of course I do! And unlike MOST of my fellow male colleagues, I am not ashamed to admit it! I tend to favor baked goods over candy, I suppose, but sweets are definitely one of my weaknesses.”
