How long will you be gone?
Not sure. As long as it takes to fix things, I guess.
Love week is now over, so I will be very quiet on this blog for a while as I get caught up with stuff. I’ll still drop by to check up on things, maybe even a post or two here and there, but if you need anything, note me at my mod blog ( gabapple ) and I’ll try to get back to you asap. Part of my work will be focused on that novel blog ( salmoncoal ) – so feel free to follow if you want to keep up with my writing.
Thanks. <3
‘Afraid’ – The Neighbourhood
When you return from work and step into your bedroom, the first thing your gaze locks onto are the three red roses on your desk and, next to them, a white, heartshaped chocolate box. And, resting gently between the flowers, is a small, simple card;
Happy Valentine’s Day, detective~
Have you figured out the messages I sent with the other roses yet? Though there’s a number of them, they shouldn’t be too difficult to spot~
Hugs and kisses and love,
– Kaitou Kid

Hattori didn’t say anything, he had removed his hands from Hakuba, face still towards the ground. He needed to leave, he needed to leave right now. That was what his mind was screaming at him. He abruptly turned away from Hakuba, refusing to look at the detective.
“Yeah, wha’ever, s’fine.” His words had a harsh tone to them, he didn’t mean for them to be so biting, or maybe he did. Maybe he wanted his words to hurt. “Jus’… nevermind.” And he walked away, well, actually, he ran away, his feet moving him as fast as possible. He even left his motorcycle behind, He just needed to get as far away from Hakuba, as fast as he could.
Hurt they did. More than Hakuba had expected that they might. Each one echoed in his head as he watched the Osakan retreat, digging into the emotional pain like razor-bladed cookie cutters on skin. It took several more moments before he was able to move from his spot, limbs stiff and heavy from the weight that had settled on him.
Rejection from Hattori was something that he had become somewhat accustomed to; it certainly wasn’t anything unusual, though it stung nonetheless. Was it the surfacing memories of the days when he’d foolishly thought that he could handle a relationship only to find out that it had all been a setup in the first place. He’d been used.
It all came flooding back to his mind far more quickly than he could adequately deal with at once. Hakuba stepped back against the brick wall of the alley and attempted to clear his thoughts.
Ah. It was betrayal. Although he felt many things at that moment, betrayal was at the tip-top of the list. There was only one person that Hakuba knew off of the top of his head that could do something like this… that would do something like this, and he wasn’t pleased about it.
He’d have to deal with Hattori at some point, but for now, he wanted answers. After all, what better way to deal with strong and potentially negative emotions than to bury them down deep, deep under layer upon layer of controlled anger and denial? Seeing Hattori look so wounded only added fuel to the fire.
How dare she…
Hakuba was a really good kisser.
Hattori’s mind went in circles again, the poor hamster was starting to run out of energy. For a few moment’s he’d forgotten just why he had been protesting. The feel of Hakuba’s lips against his was nice. Part of him just wanted to close his eyes and let this continue, let what ever was happening just happen. There was no real reason he should be fighting this…
It was when Hakuba pulled back and laced their fingers together that Hattori pulled his arms up, his hands trying to shake free of Hakuba’s as he pushed at his chest, head tilted downwards, not facing the detective.
“Stop.” It was clear and definitive. “Jus’ stop.” He didn’t want this. Not like this, not when his brain had finally remembered the letter, the dove, everything; this was a spell. He pushed a little harder at Hakuba’s shoulders, pushing him farther away from himself and yanking his hands back. “Ya dun really want this, so jus’ stop.”
It was sudden. The physical force that pushed him back was met with no resistance; Hakuba blinked again, eyes widening as he took the figure of Heiji, and his present state, into mind. Fresh perspective on the situation melded with hind-sight, splicing the two arrays of information into one compilation that slowly settled into place.
While his mind worked on sorting that out, the blonde detective was left stunned. Hattori’s words left an impression, and he was just comprehending them when he was pushed again, stumbling back toward the wall. He managed to keep his footing, but found himself simply staring at the other teen, mouth open in surprise. Not gaping, but shocked nonetheless in that reserved, subtle way that he expressed most of his emotions.
“Ah… Hattori-kun…”
The spell. He grimaced. That was what the familiar ache was. Hakuba inhaled sharply, then shook his head, struggling, briefly, to maintain his composure. Of course it was a love spell. Just like before…
“My apologies. I… I clearly haven’t been myself today. I hope I haven’t offended you. Please forgive my… inappropriate conduct. I didn’t mean to… hurt you, Hattori-kun. I’m sorry."
