Surprise did not being to even cover what Kaito felt. At first, he was only curious to see what Camie would do when she began to approach them, following her movements with his eyes. Mild curiosity immediately changed to full-blown surprise and astonishment when she reached up to kiss the detective that was still more or less in his arms.

His poker face faltered as he stared blankly at the scene almost directly in front of him, never imagining that she would be so unpredictable even for a tease like himself. Shaking his head, he even felt sympathy for the poor detective who was clearly, obviously, overwhelmed by the unexpected turn of events.

Turning his gaze to the compulsive trickster beside him, he decided that a little punishment was due, on behalf of the embarrassed detective. Looping an arm around her waist firmly, he pulled her in and caged her in his arms before leaning in to whisper into her ear.

“That was very brave of you, wasn’t it? Would you like to try again with me? I’m more than willing, unlike our poor Hakuba-san.”

“Ah, y-yes, I’ll let… let you handle this, Kaitou-san, thank you…. ah, I’m going to go get some tea, now… I’ll… catch up with you both later.”

With Camie in Kaitou’s arms and his own self free, the detective slipped away and into hiding. Presumably to put the kettle on (which was actually the truth).

Tea fixes everything, right? Something like that.

*…He was looking at her oddly, and Kyouko wanted to smack the smile off his face. But that would be childish – they were not in a stressful situation, and he wasn’t openly offending her or being rude. So she just gave the male detective an unamused look before speaking.*

According to plan, huh…? Well, unfortunately I have a history for encountering cases that haven’t gone according to plan. So I hope that big detective brain of yours has plotted something with little room for error.

*She got in the car without looking at him further; crossing her legs and sitting motionless in the seat as she stared straight ahead out the window.*

Once Kyouko was safely in the car, Hakuba closed the door and went around to the other side to let himself in. He was overzealous and excited, which often got the sort of quasi-cold response from colleagues and associates, which the detective was used to. He  buckled his seat belt, smirk never quite leaving his face, and then glanced at her.

“Please fasten your seatbelt, if you don’t mind…” Hakuba said at first, adjusting his rear view and side mirror briefly, reaching down to turn the key and engine next. “I’ll give you a brief overview of the case on the way…”

He went over the details in his head wile he waited for some kind of a positive response; an indicator that he should continue. There were a lot of details, some of which were completely unnecessary for someone not working on the actual paperwork for it. How much would she need to know? Enough to keep her from getting killed, certainly. Hm

Seeing the flustered blonde made her forget her own blush for a moment and she smiled, highly satisfied and impressed at kaitou’s  ability to please everyone in the room. Poor Hakuba-senpai looked like he was about to  die of embarrassment which, unfortunately for the detective, just made Camie want to make it worse.

That feeling in the moment allowed her to push past her shyness, if only for a moment, and she nodded. She would have to be quick, take advantage of the flustered half-brit’s surprise, not that he could move much at the moment with Kaitou slightly over him.

She blocked out her pounding heart, quickly cupped Hakuba’s face, though not too roughly, and kissed him. It wasn’t as coy as Kaitou’s, of that she was sure, but it was something she had wanted to try at least once, hopefully her heart didn’t burst.

The feeling was warm and nice and was only meant to last a few seconds, but she lingered a little longer than that, just a little. Then, finally she broke off the kiss and stepped back, her blush escalating even more than it had before. She then spoke in a quiet voice.

“Y-yeh that uh….yeh…”

Hakuba hadn’t anticipated Kaitou’s twist on the whole thing, certainly not. But that paled in comparison to Camie’s actions which the detective, honestly, never could have expected. His eyes went wider still as she touched his face, and more when she kissed him.

The moment he could gather his thoughts, he pulled back and away sharply, body stiff and jaw agape. Flustered didn’t quite cover the expression on his face… nor could embarrassed, shocked, stunned, or flabbergasted. Perhaps it was a mix of all of such, but either way, he stumbled back another step, looking between them like a – well, not a deer caught in headlights, but perhaps a hare surrounded by hungry hounds.

“A-ah… Camie-chan!” The detective squeaked, then shook his head. “Y-you should ask first! Ah! I… Ah..” Another headshake. “I’ve.. I ah…”

“As you wish, Hakuba-san and Camie-chan. Please, enjoy the performance.” Kaito smiled wickedly and winked at Camie-chan as he casually slung an arm over the detective’s shoulders to pull him in. Taking his time, he started with a kiss on the detective’s cheek and dusted kisses along his jaw before finally reaching his lips…

All the while focusing heavily lidded eyes at Camie.

Still, he wasn’t going to neglect his partner. Slanting his head slightly, he allowed for a deeper, more pleasurable kiss as he added his tongue into the mix, flicking it teasingly at Hakuba’s parted lips during their lip-lock. The heated kiss continued until they had to break away for a breath. His gaze sliding from Hakuba to Camie, a lazy grin formed on his lips and he licked his damp lips, breathless from the kiss.

When Hakuba agreed to the kiss, he had expected a warm, friendly (perhaps overly friendly) one, with just the right amount of openness to fluster Camie while remaining in the neighborhood of 3.5 seconds (give or take). The detective had expected this as it had seemed, in his calculations, more than sufficient for their intent and purpose. Alas (?), he’d been wrong.

The initial kisses were a welcome surprise, and Hakuba couldn’t help but smile at the teasing. The deeper kiss was welcomed, facial expression matching the thief’s in playful, coy air, but then quickly came to a stunned halt when it turned more heated. Not that he pulled away, no; that would ruin it all, but he blushed. Yes, yes, by the time Kaitou pulled away, his cheeks had turned a rosy shade of red, ears pink. Hakuba blinked, wide-eyed at the thief, and ever so slowly shifted his gaze to Camie.

“Ah.. .. .. .. … ye-yes, I think that will do, then. Ri-right, Camie-chan?”

Rain, Rain, Go Away

With the door opened, she hesitated only for one second before making a half-jog over as to not slip and fall and look like an idiot. She really could just make her way home while evaporating the water around her, but that wasn’t exactly what she should be doing when she had to keep on the down low in front of the humans. As the human did say, catching her death out in the middle of a shower in the human world wasn’t something she wanted to happen. It would top the stupid ways of dying for a non-human.

image

“I truly do appreciate this, kind stranger,” closing the door right behind her the second all her limbs were in, she easily settled into the act of the grateful little girl. She wasn’t sure how this would progress into the future, a human did have the tendency to meddle into her business right when she didn’t need them to. The fact that they didn’t have such long lifespans was probably the only good thing to counter that meddling trait of theirs. “You have my gratitude, all of it, truly.”

“Not to worry one bit, miss. It’s really no trouble at all.” Hakuba offered a nod and a smile to her, making sure with a glance at the car’s digital dashboard that the doors were all closed before he pulled out of park.

“Seatbelt, please. Oh, and ah, I should introduce myself! my name is Hakuba Saguru. May I have yours?”  The detective kept his eyes on the rains swept road up ahead, easing his way back into traffic. “Oh, and I suppose I need to get directions to your home or wherever it is you were travelling, too."

Inconclusive With a Side of Paranormal || camiechan

“Wellllllllll…” She started. “There was a supposed unsolved murder, pretty recent i believe. In a pretty aristocratic looking mansion type house not to far from where i live. The police had hurried to wrap up the case quite quickly because of some…strange…goings on, during the investigation.” She paused for a moment, as if thinking back.

“Strange things such as people hearing voices that didn’t belong to the staff, and people complaining of a sudden dizziness and headache that didn’t seem to be of natural causes considering the house itself is fairly clean and well-kept. Aside from a bit of dust here and there due to the house being vacant during the investigation period.”

As she talked her eyes sparkled, clearly excited by the thought of supernatural events. The ahoge on her head bouncing up and down while she nodded to herself.

“But being the renown detective you are that should be a piece of cake for you right? Why not come with, I’ve been…dying…to take a look at it myself after all.”

The foreign detective considered the presented information, lifting a hand to his chin. “I don’t believe that I have enough information to deem the case a ‘piece of cake,’ as you put it, quite yet… but it certainly sounds intriguing. I wonder…”

Hakuba glanced up at the ceiling in thought, lips pursing for a moment. “I wonder if it has something to do with the building itself; the type of materials that it was built out of, something in the walls… Lead paint? Improper insulation? A leak in the pipes, perhaps… or perhaps the home is close to power lines, causing electromagnetic disturbances…"

He took a deep breath, then let it go with a slow sigh, offering a smile afterward. "Well, you’ve gotten me curious enough that I should like to go with you, I think, if it’s really not too much trouble. I imagine that the verdict thus far is ‘inconclusive’ with a side of ‘paranormal activity,’ correct?”

((“I think, Kaitou-san, she was making a suggestion to /us/…” Hakuba raised a brow, glancing between the two of them. Then grins. “…But if the lady would like to cut in and take Kaitou-san’s suggestion, I’m not about to stand in the way.”))

((Oh? Then perhaps we shall have the lady make the decision… Whether she wants to kissed, or to watch us kiss. *grins mischievously* What is your choice, Camie-chan? ~♥))

“U-uhm,…well..uh…b-….no…uh….youtwocancarryon”

“Well, I suppose if it’s the lady’s choice, I can’t really argue with that now, can I?”  Hakuba, brow raised, was unconvinced of Camie-chan’s answer, but gave a helpless shrug as he turned to face the thief. “Very well, Kaitou-san; you may as well make it a sunning performance."
