KID grinned widely. “I was considering kissing you, but I don’t wish to force myself upon you. Do you want that, detective?” He added a light purr at the title.

“K-kissing me?”

Hakuba’s blush deepened, ears tinting pink. That purr. It was almost overwhelming. He took a steadying breath, swallowing hard, and calmed himself. He wanted to ask the thief why. Why he would want to kiss him. Why now? Why here? All of these questions flooded his mind, as well as the warnings. Red flag after red flag.

And yet…

As he looked at Kaitou, he had to admit that he had often admired that face. Had so many times looked into his eyes and longed for… for something. He wasn’t sure what.

In an attempt to hide his embarrassment, the detective uttered a faint, amused chuckle.

“And here I thought you just took whatever you wanted.”

phantom-thief-kid:

KID turned slightly and brought himself almost chest to chest with Hakuba. He whispered in Hakuba’s ear, “Why don’t I make it worth your while, Saguru?” Very, very tempting indeed.

Hakuba blinked.

Wait. What was going on? The use of his first name caught him off guard. He looked sideways at Kaitou, not moving, eyes widening as he considered the possibilities. It could be something sinister for all he knew. But Kid wouldn’t… and Kuroba certainly wouldn’t…

A faint blush crept onto the half-Brit’s cheeks. What if…?

“…What did you have in mind?” He asked, voice dropping to a whisper of his own.

Some Nights (blackfeatherswhitedoves)

blackfeatherswhitedoves:

Let the show begin indeed.

Inwardly Kaito- no, KID tonight- was slightly disappointed.  He’d gotten too good perhaps at predicting the movements of the police, and while the heist was going well, all the illusions in place and the crowd below screaming his name, the thief couldn’t help but feel like something was missing.  He’d have to put more effort into the next heist maybe, to make it more interesting.  Just because the targeted gem was safely tucked away inside his pants pocket, the police were properly baffled and lagging behind due to his tricks, and the crowd was entertained, didn’t mean KID would count this as a success.

He’d gotten a safe distance away, the police sounds fading as they went the other direction, and was left to his own thoughts for a moment.  Now was about the time he’d find a safe place to change before fully slipping away, but KID had gotten slightly off course and wasn’t near his designated place.  He wasn’t overly concerned, though.  That is, he wasn’t until he spotted a pair of black-clad figures just ahead of him.

The teen magician froze for only a split second before starting to sprint away.  It seemed it wasn’t a moment too soon either, as a gunshot rang out just to his right.  KID didn’t stop to hear whether they were giving chase;  if he had to bet, the answer was yes.

Just ahead was a fairly tall building, and KID could spot an easy way in.  Hoping he’d be able to lose his pursuers- as well as hoping the blueprints of this particular building was similar to ones he already knew- he slipped inside and headed for the roof.  If he could only get some height, perhaps he’d stand a chance.  It didn’t always work, but it was better than simply outrunning on foot.  The thief was in good shape, but not that good.

That was… odd.

Hakuba moved to the edge of the roof, looking out at the street below and the approaching commotion. Was that KID just now? Why were they coming this way?

The detective leaned over the railing edge, peering out to see if he could get a good look at whatever was happening. The police had gone off in the other direction, as could be expected, but what…? And why?

Hakuba had no idea that the very roof that Kaitou was headed for was the very same that he stood on.

“I imagine it would count, yes.” KID listened to the list. Famous places that reminded him of other places he’d been to? Interesting. And the slight slip-up with using his real name was noted. There would be hell to pay if that became a regular occurrence and the press got wind of it.

“…I suppose that is a problem here. ‘The nail that stands out gets hammered down’ and all that. But I suppose I simply do not care for that. After all, a thief, especially one who defies the conventions of thieving, is not one to talk of the merits of conforming to the norm.”

“But I will say this. Belonging is what you make of it.” KID licked his lips. Very tempting… He moved just a bit closer to Hakuba.

Kuroba had a point. Or, he supposed Kaitou KID did, at any rate. Hakuba let out a slow, hesitant sigh. Unaware of what the thief’s current predicament was, the detective turned to look at Kaitou again, offering the faintest of smiles.

“I… will try to keep that in mind, Kaitou KID-san. My apologies for being so downcast on such a lovely night.” The smile broadened. “And after all that trouble to make me climb up here, too.”

“Well, I prefer up over there.” KID pointed to the northeast. “The gliding there is excellent many nights and there’s quite a lot of shady places during the day.”

He scratched the back of his head. Of course, now his debonair act starts breaking (even if just a bit) when he actually is interested in the person… “But what about you? Any favorite spots? I understand you’re not from around here and I’m not sure if you enjoy this place, but I am curious.”

“I’ve at least spent the culmination of six or seven years here, total over the span of my life… That ought to count for something by now, shouldn’t it?"

Hakuba thought about it, gaze moving over the city contemplatively, standing still, but anxious, next to the thief.

"Tokyo tower looks remarkably like the Eiffel tower…”

But that said nothing of Japan’s own merits. He tried harder.  He pointed, stiffly.

“Rainbow Bridge is almost like the London Tower bridge.”

…but Rainbow Bridge was far, far off in the distance, and still, Hakuba wasn’t really helping anything. He frowned, and lowered his hand.

“There are plenty of lovely places here, Kaito…u-san…” He stammered the words awkwardly. “I suppose, though, when I look out at everything… I’m just reminded of how I don’t belong… if I’m to be honest about it.”

Re: Cake

You know I can’t allow you to show that cake and not share it, right?

image

“Oh, well if you’d like some, you’re more than welcome to join me, Kuroba-kun. I would be quite happy to host!”

image

“I suppose I could share with you, Kuroba-san… but only if you take it from my lips.

“Who am I to deny the birthday boy? I’ll have Baaya send some over.”

Question 013

“Ah, tonight we’re having Japanese curry rice. It’s a wonderful comfort food and, while vastly different from Indian curry, reminds me of home. In London, Indian Curries are all the rage – nothing else quite compares to its robust flavor and spice. Japanese curry is more savory and, while still possessing the capacity for heat, is more about being a stew than a milky sauce. All the same, I rather enjoy it, and am pleased to be able to find it just about anywhere in Japan.”

“Doesn’t that look delicious? In case you were interested in making it yourself, I have found an easy to follow recipe for your convenience:

"Along with dinner, I think a nice Moscato wine will make a wonderful accompaniment."

"And finally, for dessert… Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake, in honor of Kuroba Kaito’s birthday.”

I hope that he’s having a lovely evening… I must admit that I was a little too shy to really approach him about it myself.”
