“Oh… god…”
The detective bit his lip, staring at the opened door – that he did not open – and hesitated before getting to his feet. Ghosts weren’t real, as far as he knew. Or, no, that wasn’t entirely accurate, either. Ghosts and the like were unlikely to exist as portrayed in pop culture media, but that didn’t mean that they necessarily did not exist.
Hakuba pushed a breath past pursed lips and wondered what he ought to do about it. He was supposed to help them or something of that ilk, yes? But how to help a ghost? Particularly when he couldn’t stop shaking. Perhaps the heat needed to be turned up, first. Yes, that was a good plan.
Warily, the young detective stepped out of his bedroom and into the hallway, glancing left, then right, before heading toward the thermostat for that particular wing of the estate.
