Kaito, a bit later, managed to slip out and head over to the Hakuba estate. Sure, it was risky, being in the full KID outfit, but Hakuba’s parents had already seen him dressed up like this for that charity event. Still, he entered in through the window of what he deduced (such a strange thing for him to do, being a thief) to be Hakuba’s room and hung on the windowsill happily, looking out at the moon.

“You could sit on the bench, you know; it might be a little more comfortable than the ledge.” Hakuba was teasing as he said it; he knew that KID would do as he liked, and that was that. Which, honestly? Was fine. More than. The detective was simply happy to see him again.

The room was dark, lit only by the moon and the low light of the bedside lamp. Hakuba, by now in pajamas of casual sweatpants and t-shirt, watched him from the bed.
