{"id":10406,"date":"2015-10-11T02:50:57","date_gmt":"2015-10-11T02:50:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/archive.gabapple.com\/tumblr\/gabapple\/2015\/10\/11\/deenoverdami-i-was-once-talking-to-a-colleague\/"},"modified":"2015-10-11T02:50:57","modified_gmt":"2015-10-11T02:50:57","slug":"deenoverdami-i-was-once-talking-to-a-colleague","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/archive.gabapple.com\/tumblr\/gabapple\/2015\/10\/11\/deenoverdami-i-was-once-talking-to-a-colleague\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"tumblr_blog\" href=\"http:\/\/deenoverdami.tumblr.com\/post\/130074768504\">deenoverdami<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I was once talking to a colleague about how great it is that Obama wants to make two years of community college <b>free<\/b> for American citizens, thereby <b>reducing the amount of debt<\/b> students come out of school with, and providing more <b>educational opportunities<\/b> to the wider populace and to <b>those who couldn\u2019t afford<\/b> any higher schooling in the current system.<\/p>\n<p>She responded to me:\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t support it, that means our taxes will go up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I asked her:\u00a0\u201cWhy wouldn\u2019t you be okay with your taxes being higher if it meant that literally millions of people could pursue an education, including your own children?
