The National Organisation for Marriage \u2013 which was forced to disclose this week that it is secretly funded<\/a> by Catholic donors \u2013 asked all Republican candidates<\/a> to pledge support for a new constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman<\/b><\/i> \u2013 voiding the thousands of existing same-sex weddings across all 50 states.<\/p>\n

It is also asking them to \u201cprevent the promotion of a redefined version of marriage in public schools\u201d \u2013 effectively de-facto banning teachings about same-sex marriage or same-sex couples.<\/p>\n

The group also wants them to protect \u201cthe right of organisations and individuals\u201d who disagree with same-sex marriage \u2013 permitting discrimination against same-sex couples.<\/p>\n

Incredibly, despite the overtly homophobic measures proposed by the anti-gay group, four of the Republicans vying for the Presidential nomination actually signed the pledge.<\/p>\n

Rick Santorum, Senator Ted Cruz, Dr Ben Carson, and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal <\/b><\/i>all agreed with the group\u2019s mission to strip gay people of their basic rights to marriage and protection from discrimination.<\/p>\n

It is not a particular surprise from any of the four, all of whom have equally vile records of homophobia.<\/p>\n

Carson, who is currently polling second in a field of seventeen,<\/i> has claimed that equal marriage is a \u2018Marxist plot\u2019<\/a> and claimed prisons prove being gay is a choice.<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n

Cruz recently branded Ellen Page a \u201cliberal fascist\u201d<\/a> for asking him about LGBT rights, while Rick Santorum still thinks gay people can be cured,<\/a> and letting them marry will cause a global crisis<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n

Jindal, meanwhile, is trying to introduce a law in Louisiana explicitly permitting discrimination<\/a>\u00a0against same-sex couples.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Spread their names, remember their pledge, tell everyone. Don\u2019t forget this after election season.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
